Well handicapped on his old form having endured a long losing spell although he did look as though a revival could be on the cards last time. Well drawn to gain a good position and takes his first drop to this grade for some while.

C&D winner who like a few in this contest has a long losing sequence to contend with having run an eye-catching race on his penultimate start. Failed to build on that start though last time out and its case of which version of him turns up here.

Would have ended his losing run had he not been disqualified (first past the post) at Catterick in May (6f, good) off what was then a career-low mark. Two of his three subsequent starts have been creditable (ran poorly last time); new low mark.

Not looking as though he's firing on all cylinders at the moment with this 5f trip looking as though it will be rather sharp for him. Not the best drawn either for one that likes to go forward and not hard to pass on for this contest.

Capable over sprint trips but hardly the most reliable although he has been a little more consistent this season. A winner off a 2lb lower mark at Musselburgh (5f, good) on his second start of the season (needs to repeat that here); not well drawn.

A career-low mark and a first foray into 0-55 grade proved the mechanisms for a return to form on the AW (Fibresand) earlier in the year (5f). Has produced some creditable runs since then and he's slipped to a mark of 54; moderate appeal.

Winner of a C&D seller on her penultimate start (bounced back to her juvenile best) but failed to be able to build on that back in handicaps last time. Doesn't look that well treated in handicaps at present and others appeal more.

Showed some promise in sprint maidens but came last (of nine) on her only try in handicaps so far. May eventually show more in this field but best watched for now despite a decent draw and a more than capable apprentice on board.

Did manage to win a maiden on heavy ground over 5f for her former yard but all she has accomplished for this one is a plummeting handicap rating. Entitled to be a little rusty on her last two starts but makes little appeal even off a career-low mark.

From a yard in good form and looked to be threatening to come good soon based on his last few starts from his basement mark. Failed to build on those runs last time but that was in a 0-70 and this will be a little easier; not written off.

There has been the odd glimmer of hope for her this year but failed to build on any promise last time and the losing run continues to mount. Makes little appeal even in this grade and best watched here.

Hard to work up any enthusiasm for his chance here based on two very tepid efforts of late and looks to have retained very little ability.

Still a maiden (0/8) although did pass the post first in a Catterick handicap a couple of starts ago over 6f. Ran no sort of race over 5f last time at Redcar and has struggled before over this distance; visor back on.

Verdict

A low-key finale to the card but it should give ORIENTAL SPLENDOUR a chance of getting back on the winning trail now that he’s fallen to this sort of mark and looking as though a revival is on the cards; the draw helps also. Twentysvnthlancers isn’t the most consistent of horses but he has won a race this year and comes here in better form than most of the field. This might be a little on the sharp side for Extrasolar and Etienne Gerard might well be the one to look out for in the market now he’s back in a more acceptable grade from a stable that have been going well. Pearl Noir likes to be positively ridden but he’s not well drawn to do so with Foxy Boy given a chance on his best form.
