Back on the Flat last time on his first run since wind surgery he wasn't best placed and turned in a creditable effort at York. This represents a slight drop in grade and he's given a chance in this if he doesn't get too far back.

Needs to re-find her best form having looked on the up as a three-year-old (won two handicaps) and not really being seen to best effect this year so far. Finished last at Ripon on her last start but needs a better gallop to operate off.

As yet he hasn't really shown his best for this yard (formerly with David Pipe) and has had excuses for a couple of those runs. No real excuse last time though (failed to settle) and more needed to take this despite edging down the weights.

C&D winner who usually goes from the front and didn't need to be at his best last time dropped in grade (claimer) but ran a strange sort of race doing well to win in the end. Not sure to be in the same form but 10lb below his last winning mark.

Two runs this year have been below-par although both have come in much softer conditions than he'll face here. Can be slow away and does have something to prove even with some better ground to operate on off a career-low mark.

Landed a gamble and showed improved form to take a Carlisle handicap but that was only a 0-60 and he's already failed to follow-up under a penalty on a quick return. Now 10lb above his last winning mark; could go well but more to do/prove.

Forecasts

Cornborough (5/2), Vincent's Forever (3/1), Zihaam (7/2), Be Perfect (6/1), Psychotic (7/1), Fire Leopard (8/1)

Verdict

The hope here is that Be Perfect will adopt his usual front-running tactics and provide a good pace to run at for the hold-up types in this race. Fire Leopard would really appreciate a good gallop to run off and is probably better than she’s shown this year but CORNBOROUGH is given the nod over that one after a sound run at York last time. Zihaam can’t be left out of the equation but does have more to do off this mark and when winning recently at Carlisle.
  1. Cornborough
  2. Fire Leopard
  3. Zihaam
