Only fifth on handicap debut at Sandown last time out, but much went wrong for him during the race and another step up in trip here may help.

A winner of a similar trip to this at Doncaster two starts back before failing to land a blow at the same course last time out, but step back in trip and ease in grade are expected to help him be competitive here.

Couldn't land a blow on handicap debut at Newbury last time out but likely better than he showed there based on his form in novice company. Could bounce back to play a part here.

Mixed form in novice/maiden company, and difficult to judge whether this handicap mark will be suitable on debut in this sphere, so probably best watched.

Second at Haydock last time out was a marked improvement on previous handicap form, and step up to this trip may have helped. Can't be ruled out off a similar mark here.

Some good form on the AW but yet to place in six attempts on turf, so can only be watched after failing to get involved at York last time out.

Forecasts

Desert Path (2/1), Firlinfeu (7/2), Morning Skye (7/2), Caspar The Cub (9/2), Candidate (8/1), Sotomayor (12/1)

Verdict

This can go to DESERT PATH, who progressed nicely through his three runs in novice races and was subsequently slightly disappointing on handicap debut at Sandown last time. However, he was keen in the early stages there and was also caught short of room at a vital point, so he can build on that performance off 4lb lower to get his head back in front here. Candidate, back down in trip here, and Alan King's Caspar The Cub are others with claims.
