Only out of the first two once in her last seven start, she scored over C&D last June and has finished runner-up here on each of her three subsequent visits. Raised 1lb for her latest near miss but still rates a contender.
Hasn't raced over hurdles for 18 months and has failed to score on the Flat in the interim although ran well at both Salisbury and Newmarket last autumn. Fair performer so could well improve on previous efforts over timber and won't be far away.
Won at Worcester in November off 108 and shaped well after five-month absence when third at Huntingdon last month. Runs off same mark and should strip fitter.
Won Lingfield handicap over 1m4f recently having shown decent form over hurdles this spring, particularly when narrowly beaten in good event at Cheltenham. Seems in great heart so despite 7lb higher mark may give them all something to think about.
Wininng point to pointer but a maiden in 11 starts under Rules. Weakened from 2 out over 2m4f at Fakenham last time and has undergone a wind op since then. Others make more appeal.
Ex French 10-furlong handicapper, runner-up in two of her four hurdles starts including last time at Towcester when ridden by Bryony Frost who partners Cubswin this time. 5lb higher now but not out f it.
Veteran mare winner of 5 of her 46 races. Last successful at Worcester in August. 4lb lower than latest effort at Warwick after a winter break but the younger mares may prove too swift for her.
Stayed on well to win easily at Wincanton in May but weakened into fourth off 11lb higher mark three weeks later. Eased 2lb and a revival not out of the question but needs to recover her form.
Won at Warwick and Worcester last October and not disgraced off 8lb higher mark when thrid at Bangor soon after in her hat-trick bid. Eight-month absence to overcome and market should indicate what's expected after her break.
Forecasts
David's Phoebe (3/1), Stepover (3/1), Cubswin (11/2), Northern Beau (6/1), Shufoog (15/2), Jelly Monger (10/1), Ortenzia (16/1), Ginger Fizz (20/1), Milan Of Crystal (25/1)
CUBSWIN can take this mares' race at the mian expense of the ultra-consistent Stepover. The selection won on the Flat a couple of weeks ago so is fit and well and has decent form to call on over hurdles from a few months ago. Stepover is always on the premsies at this track and may be the one to make a proper race of it, while Ortenzia and Shufoog are capable of getting into the argument as well.
- Cubswin
- Stepover
- Ortenzia
