Makes handicap debut today off a very tempting mark having shaped with promise on several occasions. Needs to brush up his jumping a little but has potential to be better than this opening mark.

Johnny Pedlar27

Well beaten on handicap debut at Ayr (2m5½f, good) two starts back. Better effort back in novice company last time when showing a much better attitude and nudged up the weights as a result. Claims here.

Returns today from a winter break having disappointed in a handicap hurdle and on chase debut when last seen in November. Had wind surgery as well as the break and needs to do much more to be considered.

Consistent although beginning to look rather one paced. Every chance on form but vulnerable if a few of these arrive in peak condition.

Has dropped below his last winning mark when with Dan Skelton but has been out of sorts lately. Dropping in the weights but others preferred in current mood.

The Trigger245
Age: 9|  Weight: 11-4| J: B S Hughes| T: R McNally| OR:  92

Hard to enthuse about on form before his winter break but has dropped in the weights and is the choice of Brian Hughes so any market support would be significant.

Shown improved form running on better ground with the cheekpieces on last time. This drop in trip looks a good move and gets to run off the same mark here so a case can be made.

x-Irish trained mare (Elizabeth Doyle). Now a 14 race maiden and despite tumbling down the weights at present, she's very hard to fancy in her current mood unless the market screams her name.

Should come on for his recent reappearance and has now dropped to his last winning mark. Requires a leap of faith but every chance of a better showing.

Ollisu Lad71
Age: 9|  Weight: 10-7| J: D R Fox| T: I A Duncan| OR:  81

Seems to have potential off this sort of mark based on one or two of his runs. Well beaten over further at Sedgefield last time but drops in trip here on a much sounder surface and would be of real interest should any money come.

Honeychile Ryderb,h24
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-2| J: Sean Quinlan| T: Mrs Dianne Sayer| OR:  76

Found a really good opportunity when winning at Cartmel (2m6f, good) last time. This is tougher though and likely to find at least a couple too strong.
12
Horse silk
Kitty Fisher21
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-1| J: Thomas Willmott(7)| T: Miss S E Forster| OR:  75
8/1
Winner of two point-to-point races in 2017 but failed to trouble the judge in three starts over hurdles for this stable. Others have more convincing claims.

Forecasts

Lawtop Legend (10/3), Budarri (9/2), The Trigger (5/1), Karamoko (5/1), Honeychile Ryder (7/1), Kitty Fisher (8/1), Johnny Pedlar (12/1), Sierra Oscar (14/1), Karingo (18/1), Devito'sgoldengirl (20/1), Ollisu Lad (33/1), Slaney Craiglegacy (40/1)

Verdict

Any market support for Ollisu Lad would be interesting racing on this sounder surface off a basement mark. The Trigger has fallen down the weights and is another one for which market support would be significant with Brian Hughes aboard. KARAMOKO has shaped well several times already over hurdles and is taken to make a successful handicap debut.
  1. Karamoko
  2. Ollisu Lad
  3. The Trigger
