Losing run continues to mount and his latest run gave very little encouragement that he was about to end that particular statistic (ran too free). Would need a few of these to disappoint to make the frame.
Well beaten on his last start and hardly looked as though he was in any sort of form. Only win so far came in a poor maiden when long odds-on and yet to beat a rival for this yard; others make more appeal.
Turned in a creditable effort last time on the AW over 7f when he was unable to maintain his effort through to the finish. Improvement needed but can't be totally ruled out on the evidence of his last run.
Good form around here going 1132 over C&D although it is a while since he was last in the winner's enclosure. Ran a very poor race last time out though at Pontefract and that could be the reason for the first-time cheekpieces.
Finally went through with his effort (often flatters to deceive) when beating God Willing here last month (raised 4lb for that attempt). That was his third win around here but he's struggled to follow up a win.
Two wins already this year and has run well in his other two starts and often takes a prominent position in his races. A repeat of his latest run would see him go close off the same mark.
Returns from a long absence having run poorly on his handicap debut when last seen although has some form (placed) in maidens. Best watched on his return with other not lacking match fitness.
There are some respectable runs on his CV but he hardly looks to be improving as shown by his latest start at Thirsk. Cheekpieces return now and another place may be the best he can hope for.
In better form earlier in the year with his Fibresand outings being the more compelling ones on his record. Ran poorly at Beverley on his last start and others would appeal more in this.
Forecasts
Pepys (10/3), Abushamah (7/2), Nibras Again (11/2), Fieldsman (6/1), Planetaria (13/2), Cryptonite (7/1), Sooqaan (16/1), Corked (25/1), Mumford (100/1)
Some of these need to bounce back to take a hand in this and PEPYS is selected to continue his good start to the season and add a third win; a repeat of his last run would see him go close. Abushamah showed more resilience than is sometimes the case to win here last time but he has no great record in following up victories. Nibras Again wouldn’t be out of this on his best form with Planetaria needing to come back to his previous form around here to have a chance although there is every chance return here with cheekpieces on may rejuvenate him.
- Pepys
- Nibras Again
- Abushamah
