C&D winner who had hinted at a revival in his past few runs and that duly arrived when he came good at Goodwood (6f, good) making use of a much reduced mark. Pushed back up 6lb for that win he's still not badly treated in this.

Scored twice earlier in the year once over C&D and the second time over 7f he failed to complete a t hat-trick but has still run with credit since. His run here last time can be written off (poorly drawn) and still of interest back over 6f.

Had shown some decent AW form last year but failed in Dubai on his last three starts with the turf and dirt surfaces looking unsuitable for him. Now back on a surface that should show her in a much better light; just 3lb above last winning mark.

The cheekpieces that were used for the first-time on his last start are retained having appeared to pep him up a little. Has been a little inconsistent in the past but still looks as though he retains his ability; 6lb above his last winning mark.

Book ended his 2017campaign with a couple of wins over 6f on turf travelling well on both occasions and ran with credit between those two victories. Now gelded this will only be his second AW run coming back from an extended break.

Hasn't won since taking the 2016 Wokingham handicap off a 10lb higher mark and whilst he looks on a handy mark he still has to prove he retains his ability. Clearly not right last time this run is needed to tell us more.

Quickly went through a good spell upon joining this yard taking a 5f Lingfield handicap off just 2lb lower. Looked to slightly lose his way after that but did well to finish 8th at Epsom last time (carried wide); tongue-tie retained.

A drop into 0-85 class looked to be the catalyst for a return to form last time at Catterick beating one who had been in good form and continues to run well. That was his first win for two years and his first in a handicap; more to come.

Got the year off to a good start with a hat-trick which included a C&D win and he's run with credit since then on the AW and turf. Looks as though he's better suited by 7f now and may find this trip a little too sharp.

Has clearly had some problems during his career and only has a Dundalk maiden win over 7f to show for his efforts. Looks well suited by Polytrack but now starts out with a new yard having shown he has ability; 6f may prove too sharp.

Essentially much better on the AW than he is on turf and he's hardly beaten a rival home on the latter surface. Well held at Brighton last time and should do better here on the evidence of his Kempton 2nd in March off 3lb lower.

Sharper for a recent comeback run after a long absence he showed the benefit of that when winning well at Pontefract (6f, heavy). Failed to follow up under very different conditions and has very limited AW experience off a career-high mark.

Verdict

Once again Chelmsford have come up with a complex puzzle to solve with PRIVATE MATTER looking as though he could be back on the up having won last time. He still features off a decent mark and there looked to be something left in the tank last time. Raucous is another one who could well continue his revival with George Dryden another who looks on the evidence of his Epsom run one who could be on the way back. Dubai One will be far more at home on this surface and so should Ascot Day. Eljaddaaf can bounce back from a poor run last time (poorly drawn) and his stamina for 7f will come into play if this is run at a good pace.
