A winner of two of his last three starts and seemed to appreciate this step up in trip last time out. Carries a 6lb penalty here but still can't be ruled out even with that extra weight.

Much better than this level of his race on his day, but seems a long way past his best at this stage and his slide down the weights continues.

Back down to his most recent winning mark and this is easier than recent assignments, but needs to take advantage of the drop in class to stake a claim.

Two runs so far this campaign leave him with plenty of improvement to find, and he's still 5lb above his most recent winning mark.

Has been running well on the AW recently, but also acts on turf and return to this trip unlikely to do his chances any harm.

Down to his most recent winning mark which is obviously encouraging, but needs to build on seasonal return at Windsor last time out.

Winner over this trip at Brighton two starts back, and 4lb higher in the weights now. Could progress again and this looks easier than the Newmarket race he was in last time.

Has been running over hurdles in the early part of the year with some good efforts despite not winning, but needs to improve on previous efforts on the Flat.

Never a factor on seasonal return at Windsor last time out and needs to improve for the run, though this apprentice rider is good value for her claim.

Forecasts

Aclimatise (11/8), Emenem (9/2), Pivoine (7/1), Turnpike Trip (7/1), Tom's Rock (15/2), Derek Duval (11/1), Zamperini (25/1), Jumping Jack (33/1), Bronze Angel (33/1)

Verdict

DEREK DUVAL wasn't disgraced in a competitive race at Newmarket last time out, and off the same mark here (just 4lb higher than his last winning rating), he should be capable of playing a hand with trip and ground likely to suit. Aclimatise carries a 6lb penalty for winning last time but is an obvious danger to the selection, while Zamperini could build on his seasonal return last time out.
  1. Derek Duval
  2. Aclimatise
  3. Zamperini
