Deservedly shed maiden tag when winning nine-runner handicap at Goodwood (1m2f, good to firm) five days ago, holding on gamely. Still ahead of the assessor on that evidence.

Showed improved form on her second start when switched to the AW over 7f at Kempton finishing runner-up (no chance with winner). Hasn't built on that since however in two runs either side of a break.

Made winning start for this handler at Kempton over 7f in Class 6 affair in April. Rated 7lb higher now and not as good on turf since at Windsor.

Siyouni gelding, returned to action when finishing fifth of 14 in over this C&D, doing best work at finish. May improve now sent handicapping.

Filly was second at Windsor and Nottingham earlier in the year, looking a winner in waiting as she did. Not as good since at Salisbury, gets new blinkers on now and well capable of challenging.

Well beaten all three starts, including when switched to turf at Nottingham last time over extended-mile having gone off 100/1. Makes handicap debut with plenty to work on.

Just failed to get up in 7f Wolverhampton handicap on the first of last month, has won around here before and can bounce back from poor effort at Leicester with new cheekpieces deployed.

Winner at Southwell in December from 8lb lower, well enough held in four runs since and likely needs to drop another few pounds before entering the winners' circle again.

Didn't show a great deal in three starts over six furlongs at big prices last autumn and similar tale on handicap bow at Lingfield (7f, AW) last month. Watching brief again.

Forecasts

Courtside (6/4), Danzay (5/2), Carlini (3/1), Kendergarten Kop (6/1), Geetanjali (8/1), Lady Alavesa (12/1), World Breaker (16/1), Fleeting Steps (20/1), Light Relief (25/1), Couldn't Could She (33/1), Bad Dog (50/1)

Verdict

LADY ALAVESA finished second at Windsor and Nottingham earlier this year and looked likely to shed her maiden tag sooner rather than later. She perhaps didn't stay 1m2f last time at Salisbury and, if getting away well, is capable of running a bit race down in trip with new headgear added. Friday's Goodwood winner Danzay isn't taken lightly in the follow up attempt while Courtside is fit and respected now going handicapping for the first time after a decent run over C&D last time.
  1. Lady Alavesa
  2. Danzay
  3. Courtside
