Off time: 20:30 | Winning time: 6m 5.70s

Kaiser Black^t¹⁴

Age: 7| Weight: 11-10| J: D N Russell| T: P M J Doyle| OR: 138

7/2

Deservedly got his head in front over the larger obstacles at the fourth time of asking landing a Ballinrobe handicap last month. Will have to overcome a massive 15lb penalty and may find this difficult.

Form: 1/434-21

Net D'Ecosse^b,t¹⁴

Age: 8| Weight: 11-7| J: Sean Flanagan| T: N Meade| OR: 135| BF

12/1

Pulled up in this contest last year and beaten favourite last time out in a Ballinrobe handicap chase over 2m7f when pulled up lame last month following a win at Kilbeggan earlier. Fitness two weeks later can be only taken on trust.

Form: 3225-1P

Killaro Boy^h⁴⁸

Age: 9| Weight: 11-6| J: B Browne⁽⁵⁾| T: A Murray| OR: 134| BF

11/1

Brought down early doors in the Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse over Easter but bounced back to form when finishing third of 24 in a confidence boosting hurdle at Punchestown in April. May be in need of some relief from the handicapper.

Form: 11/94B3-

Shanpallas^p1¹⁴

Age: 10| Weight: 11-5| J: M A Enright| T: C Byrnes| OR: 133

33/1

Completely out of form last term and pulled up on seasonal debut at Ballinrobe last month. First time cheekpieces unlikely to bring about the required amount of improvement needed to play a role here.

Form: 47P76-P

A Sizing Network¹⁴

Age: 8| Weight: 11-3| J: R M Power| T: Mrs J Harrington| OR: 131

9/1

Well held, despite the finishing positions in three chase starts since April and is looking a little high in the weights right now.

Form: 11P4-73

Supreme Vinnie^t¹⁴

Age: 9| Weight: 11-0| J: Rachael Blackmore| T: Miss D O'Shea| OR: 128

16/1

Winner of a Punchestown handicap chase last month off a 8lb lower mark and beaten since. Game sort but may start to struggle off current mark.

Form: 3636-15

Tesseract¹⁶⁷

Age: 7| Weight: 11-0| J: B J Geraghty| T: J P O'Brien| OR: 128

9/1

Last seen pulling up in the Grade B Paddy Power chase at Leopardstown over Christmas. Worth a market check for leading connections.

Form: 16615P-

Master Appeal²⁰

Age: 9| Weight: 10-13| J: A E Lynch| T: J E Kiely| OR: 127

14/1

Winner of a weak looking eight-runner Wexford beginners chase at the tenth time of asking over the larger obstacles. More needed in this contest.

Form: 23363-1

Riviera Sun^p²²⁵

Age: 9| Weight: 10-13| J: J S McGarvey| T: H De Bromhead| OR: 127| C

25/1

Course winner who was last seen finishing down the field in a Galway handicap chase in October. Still 5lb higher than last winning mark and may need the run here.

Form: 13U145-

Sea Light¹⁴

Age: 10| Weight: 10-13| J: Phillip Enright| T: C Byrnes| OR: 127

25/1

Distance winner but the veteran is now without a win over the larger obstacles in five starts since putting his head in front at Clomel last June. Tough ask.

Form: U4P3P-6

Aranhill Chief^t²²⁵

Age: 11| Weight: 10-10| J: D F O'Regan| T: S J Mahon| OR: 124| CD

14/1

C&D winner of this race in 2015 and 2016 the latest win off a 1lb lower mark. Worth a market check on return from a break.

Form: U/24064-

Eiri Na Casca^p¹⁵

Age: 9| Weight: 10-10| J: D G Hogan| T: D Hogan| OR: 124

16/1

Goes well between 2m and 2m2f but appears to be well held when trying further so this trip does not conjure up any encouragement.

Form: 91872-4

Na Trachtalai Abu^t⁷

Age: 8| Weight: 10-5| J: D J McInerney⁽³⁾| T: J Motherway| OR: 119| D

6/1

Has run two solid races since returning to the track last month including a win in a Punchestown handicap chase off a 6lb lower mark. Plenty of boxes ticked here and entitled to make the shortlist.

Form: 3940-13

Oathkeeper¹⁸

Age: 8| Weight: 10-5| J: Mark Walsh| T: J P O'Brien| OR: 119| BF| C

5/1

Course winner who was beaten favourite last time out in a Down Royal novice chase leaving the son of Oscar without a win over the larger obstacles in six starts. May find one of two quicker here.

Form: FP69-32

Mr Boss Man⁷

Age: 10| Weight: 10-5| J: R Loughran| T: N Slevin| OR: 119| D

20/1

First Reserve: Fifth of 12 at Kilbeggan recently and out of the places in four starts over this trip. Hard to fancy still racing 7lb higher than last winning mark.

Forecasts

Kaiser Black (7/2), Oathkeeper (5/1), Toushan (11/2), Na Trachtalai Abu (6/1), Dinnie's Vinnie (8/1), Tesseract (9/1), A Sizing Network (9/1), Killaro Boy (11/1), Net D'Ecosse (12/1), Master Appeal (14/1), Aranhill Chief (14/1), Capture The Drama (14/1), Supreme Vinnie (16/1), Eiri Na Casca (16/1), Mr Boss Man (20/1), Sea Light (25/1), Riviera Sun (25/1), Shanpallas (33/1), The Gatechecker (33/1)

NA TRACHTALAI ABU has plenty in his favour here with wins on the ground and over this trip and can land this renewal providing he isn't given too much to do at the business end of affairs as he was last time out at Kilbeggan. Master Appeal, winner last time out at Wexford last month and the improving Oathkeeper are worthy of consideration for the places.
