From since switching to this yard reads FPF and is still racing off an 8lb higher mark than for his last win back in December. Ground conditions in his favour here but needs to brush up the jumping.

Now 2lb lower than for his hurdles victory here in September. well fancied in the market at Stratford (2m3½f, good) three weeks ago but folded quite tamely. That has to raise doubts over this longer trip today.

Was in the process of running a nice race in the first time blinkers at Startford (2m6½f, good) when falling back in November. Given a break since and is on a nice mark. Blinkers retained and no surprise to see a bold showing here.

Came on a good deal from first start for a year at Bangor (3m, good) last time when staying on nicely. Should be cherry ripe now and rates a danger to all here with conditions in his favour.

Very consistent performer who always runs his race. Did race a touch lazily at Warwick on return from a short break last time and this step up in trip looks an interesting move. Each-way claims at the very least.

Likeable mare that won back-to-back races at the turn of the year, both very comfortably, though shot up 16lb for her troubles. Not so good the last twice and it may be that she is now in the grip of the handicapper.

Winner of eight hurdles races and three chase contests for this yard. Had a spell with other trainers running in Hunter Chases that hasn't been fruitful. Is on an attractive mark and would be of interest if market support comes.

Hasn't won over fences since November 2015. Third here over 2m4f (good) last month was a fair effort but was still beaten 21L. Dropped 4lbs but needs to do more.

Won a couple of better handicap chases than this a couple of years ago, but hasn't been seen out all that many times since and when he has it's mostly been tame performances. Cheekpieces go on for the first time.

Form has really tailed off of late and it is hard to enthuse over his chances having been beaten a long way at Warwick last time. Steps up in trip and is thrown in on his old form, but needs to do much more.

Won as he liked here two starts back and handicapper to a swipe at him to the tune of 15lbs. Still ran very well next time at Ffos Las (2m3½f, good) and this step up in trip looks a good move. Major player once more.

Forecasts

Kilfinichen Bay (3/1), Our Reward (4/1), Destiny's Gold (9/2), Kalifourchon (9/1), Jarlath (9/1), Cropley (10/1), Vendredi Trois (14/1), Powerful Symbol (14/1), Tb Broke Her (16/1), Gun Shy (22/1), Fear Glic (25/1)

Verdict

Kalifourchon is tempting with the blinkers retained on the back of a break. He is a lively player if fit and ready to go. Our Reward shaped really nicely at Bangor last time and is very much respected but preference here is for CROPLEY to gain another success. Having won so well here last month he ran with credit in a better race at Ffos Las last time and this step up in trip should suit.
  1. Cropley
  2. Our Reward
  3. Kalifourchon
