Driven out to beat dual subsequent winner Yeah Baby Yeah by 1L at Doncaster in late April (7f soft), and held her own next time in a better race at York despite the tables being turned. Rock-solid and with previous C&D form.
Has found life tougher since recording back-to-back 6f victories last back-end (Redcar and Pontefract), and mightn't have ground conditions or trip fully to her liking today.
Ex Godolphin, but her improved form in France (H-A Pantall) came over middle-distances and with plenty of cut in the ground. Disappointing so far for this trainer (7f-1m) after being bought for €45,000 with this trip on quick ground far from ideal.
On the premises on her first three starts this season, including when a head runner up to Brockholes over C&D in early May (good). Not so strong latest from out of the weights and more required.
In-foal mare who has improved this campaign, holding Maureb by a head over C&D in early May and going under by just 1L to the thriving Yeah Baby Yeah at Chelmsford latest (7f). Mark steadily rising, but should go close.
Won just once in 14 starts; over 5f here in April 2017, but is a largely reliable filly. Hasn't thrived on the AW, but upped in trip for the switch back to turf and should win more races, just not today.
Forecasts
Brockholes (11/8), Lady In Question (15/8), Maureb (7/1), Kodicat (12/1), Penny Pot Lane (12/1), Fashion Theory (22/1)
A compact field, but an intriguing race lies in store with a host of in-form, progressive fillies and mares declared. The thriving in-foal Brockholes has C&D previous with Maureb but is fancied to maintain her positive momentum by franking that form. However, she faces a tough rival in the shape of the Richard Fahey trained LADY IN QUESTION. She is a three-time winner from 21 starts who will be untroubled by the conditions come rain or shine, and more than held her own in a Class 3 fillies handicap at York latest despite being downed by Yeah Baby Yeah (winner since); a filly whom she'd previously beaten at Doncaster (7f soft).
- Lady In Question
- Brockholes
- Maureb
