Has failed to progress over fences and shaped poorly and as if out of form when last seen out at Cheltenham (off the bridle a long way out). This is a drop in class as he returns to hurdles but hard to trust on recent effort.
Has one standout effort to his name off a mark just 4lb lower; he looked to need the run last time out at Towcester (2m3f, good). Has scope from a handicapping perspective on that run although this trip does looks a test for him.
Gradually improved over the winter turning in some consistent performances and was back to his best last time out at Wincanton. Now has to overcome a 10lb rise for that win but looks to still have some progress in him; needs good ground.
His second run for this yard showed what he was capable of when he was well backed at Huntingdon (finished 2nd off 2lb lower). Given a long break after that and was well below that level in first-time cheekpieces last time.
Bumper winner who took five attempts to get off the mark over hurdles finally justifying favouritism at Chepstow in April. Opening handicap mark looked stiff enough but she coped well enough with it to finish third at Newton Abbot.
Started out life in handicaps on rather a stiff mark thanks to running rather too well on his qualifying run. Only dropped 3lb from that initial mark and looks to need some more help from the assessor on what he's shown so far in handicaps.
Had performed with credit in bumpers and won on his second hurdles start and has since struggled a little in handicaps until getting back on track last time. That run confirmed that he needs a test of stamina and this trip will suit better.
Hasn't been at all easy to train and bled last time out when pulled-up at Fontwell. Has shown some reasonable form when not affected by his physical problems but that makes him an unsafe proposition here.
A break had clearly done her some good when she bounced back to take a Ludlow handicap hurdle last time out. Pushed up 6lb for that win it takes her up to near her career-high mark and she'll need to be at her best here.
A 12 month absence proved to be no problem when making a winning chase debut for this useful hurdler although his subsequent races in that sphere were blighted by some poor jumping. Return to hurdles may suit him.
Produced his best effort to date when winning at Ludlow on his penultimate run (benefitted from a break) having been pulled-up in his three previous starts. The 6lb rise for that win appeared to anchor him behind Ayla's Emperor last time.
Given a mark after four hurdles runs he looks reasonably weighted on his bumper form having been given some quiet hurdles outings. The type to improve in handicaps and worth noting if there is a market move.
Forecasts
Arian (2/1), Schnabel (11/2), Atomic Rumble (6/1), Zen Master (9/1), Samson's Reach (10/1), Church Hall (10/1), Allez Jacques (12/1), Iniciar (14/1), Oscar Sunset (14/1), Ayla's Emperor (20/1), Travertine (25/1), Robinsson (25/1)
The handicapper certainly hit SCHNABEL hard for his Wincanton win off a break raising him 10lb in the handicap but given that he still has some improvement in him he should be able to cope with that impost. Church Hall will appreciate this return to hurdling while Zen Master will be shown to best advantage if this turns into a test of stamina. Both Ayla’s Emperor and Samson’s Reach look to have something to find at the weights and the one to note in the market is the hurdling debutante Atomic Rumble who could have been let in lightly here.
- Schnabel
- Church Hall
- Zen Master
