3/1
C&D winner who is now lurking 12lb below that winning mark on his third run for this yard (first over 6f). Shaped well on his first start for this yard over 5f at Pontefract and found the same trip too sharp at Catterick; one to note back at 6f.

Won a couple of these events last year and his last two wins have come with today's rider on board. Slipped back below his last winning mark now but his form so far this year has failed to match that of 2017; both runs in a higher grade though.

14/1
Course winner who makes his first start since a wind op having been off a while and poor when last seen. Over a year since he's won though (2lb below last winning mark) and might just need this against some fitter types.

His 2nd on his penultimate run in a similar event indicated that he could win something like this although he failed to back up that run last time. Losing run now stretches back over two years and not one to rely on heavily given his overall record.

Veteran sprinter who has had a few spells with this trainer and has won 12-times including once over C&D. His last win came over two years ago though and his two most recent runs were well below form; now returns for a long break (best watched).

Won on his last start for his previous yard on the AW (3lb lower) and has performed consistently without winning for his current trainer. Might not be far away again off this mark although appeals more as one to gain a place than a win.

Given her good performance last time at Thirsk when she was the first home of those from a high draw she's one to shortlist here. Enthusiasm is slightly tempered by the fact her overall win/run ratio is meagre.

Took a step back in the right direction off a lowly mark at Hamilton on his penultimate start but failed to build on that promise off a quick return last time out at Ayr (6f, firm). Did lose a shoe on that occasion but not one to make excuses for.

Bounced back to form and ended a long losing run when taking an amateur riders handicap at Wolverhampton (6f) earlier in the year. His form since has been modest at best and he's of only limited interest in this.

Steps back to a sprint trip on his third run for this yard having taken a step in the right direction last time over 7f (had run of the race; travelled well). Has been placed twice over this trip but not one to rely on overall.

This will be her first turf start having run well on the AW (best at Lingfield) and won a 6f handicap off a basement mark late last year (under an apprentice). Ran with credit last time considering she was out of the weights and over 7f.

Verdict

Hard to ignore the claims of ZAPPER CASS here who is running over 6f for the first time for this yard and off a mark 12lb below the one he scored off over C&D last year. Krazy Paving looks the straightforward sort who will always give you a run for your money in this sort of event with a lot of the others having some quirks. Cliff hasn’t shown much this year but if he’s judged on his form of last year then he would enter the picture in this especially as he appears to go well for today’s rider. Sarabi is another who ran well last time and a repeat of her Thirsk run would make her of interest while Berlios can’t be written off in this grade.
