Earth Ladyh160
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-12| J: Ross Chapman(3)| T: M Todhunter| OR:  97WS
25/1
Lightly raced, but sold cheaply by Philip Hobbs in November 2017 (£3,000). Pulled up on her first two starts for this trainer, but is hooded today having undergone recent wind surgery.
2

Flow With Eveb19
Age: 9|  Weight: 11-11| J: Aidan Coleman| T: O Murphy| OR:  96
4/1
Remains a maiden after 15 starts, running to a similar standard since debuting for this trainer at Fakenham in January (2m4f heavy). Drops into a mares seller hoping to capitalise.
3
Horse silk
Russian Royalep37
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-5| J: Miss Becky Smith(5)| T: Micky Hammond| OR:  90
3/1
Quirky mare who has refused to race in the past, so not a horse to trust implicitly. Racing consistently of late at Sedgefield (2m1f-2m5f), but without quite looking good enough to win a race.
5
Horse silk
Ask Madget118
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-2| J: D R Fox| T: N C Kelly| OR:  87
25/1
Not totally disgraced in a 2m mares novices hurdle at Hexham latest, but the jury must be out as to whether or not she'll stay this trip (is closely related to a 3m winner). Not wholly exposed in a first time tongue tie.
6
Horse silk
Appletree Laneb146
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-2| J: James Davies| T: T R Gretton| OR:  87
22/1
The breakthrough success is proving elusive (now 0 from 14), and she's regressing rather than progressing. New headgear tried today on very different ground to what she encountered at Newcastle latest.
7
Horse silk
Rose Treeb1,t18
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-9| J: James Corbett(5)| T: S Corbett| OR:  80
5/1
Back-peddling after some initial optimism in bumpers (ex Pam Sly), with her trainer seemingly yet to establish her ideal trip. Wears first time blinkers, alongside more regular tongue tie.
8
Horse silk
Beyond The Glen37
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-8| J: D B Hurst(7)| T: C Grant| OR:  79
20/1
Poor in point-to-points (1 from 17) and even less competitive under rules in novice/maiden company. Hard to see her being involved positively.
9
Horse silk
Lady Vivona239
Age: 10|  Weight: 10-7| J: B S Hughes| T: Miss L Harrison| OR:  78
14/1
Now a 20-race maiden, and far from the most reliable of mares. Has claims on some of her better efforts, such as when runner up on her penultimate start (3m, Uttoxeter), but equally likely to post a no show.

Horse silk
Play Practice35
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-3| J: Jamie Hamilton| T: J Walton| OR:  74
25/1
Maiden point-to-point winner on soft ground in March 2016, who hasn't seen much racing for her age. Never in the hunt from an early stage at Perth latest (3m soft), so requires a transformation here even allowing for the grade of race.
11
Horse silk
Poetic Presencep110
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-1| J: Sam Coltherd(5)| T: W Coltherd| OR:  72
8/1
Placed in point-to-points since her last start under rules in February (3m heavy), but isn't a frequent winner; never under rules in 23 starts, hence her presence in this company. Wears first time cheek-pieces.
12
Horse silk
Honeychile Ryderb,h4
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-0| J: Sean Quinlan| T: Mrs Dianne Sayer| OR:  67
4/1
Poor maiden (0 from 13) who was well beaten from miles out of the handicap over 2m1f here on Saturday.

Forecasts

Russian Royale (3/1), Honeychile Ryder (4/1), Flow With Eve (4/1), Rose Tree (5/1), Geni Johnson (8/1), Poetic Presence (8/1), Lady Vivona (14/1), Beyond The Glen (20/1), Appletree Lane (22/1), Ask Madge (25/1), Play Practice (25/1), Earth Lady (25/1)

Verdict

A poor race in which the dropped in grade Flow With Eve is worthy of her place towards the fore of the market, and looks almost impossible to keep out of the frame. However, despite some niggling stamina concerns we'll take a chance on the far less exposed Noel Kelly trained mare ASK MADGE. She hasn't shown a great deal so far in truth, but in the absence of any solid opinion in this contest, she gets the speculative nod with fewer convictions than the majority.
  1. Ask Madge
  2. Flow With Eve
  3. Geni Johnson
