Failed to stay 2m4f last time having travelled well for a long way. Dropped 3lb and every chance in this grade so long as the rain stays away.
Veteran who hasn't won a race since December 2014. However, he has been performing at a level which gives him a chance in this company off his new mark. Still needs to prove he retains his enthusiasm for the game.
All three wins have come here in similar grade. Just 1lb above his last winning mark and holds Key To The West on his latest form.
No signs of an imminent return to his best form and he continues to check out of his races too early.
Moderate form in point-to-points this year and again at Southwell 12 days ago. Better on a sound surface and best form has been at 2m4f.
His only success came here but he has proved expensive to follow since and his last run was a tame effort.
Looks unreliable these days so in good company here. Nevertheless, his last run was so dire he is difficult to recommend and his price is more likely to reflect the pulling power of his connections than his ability.
It is proving hard to determine his right trip and tactics after another one paced effort suggested he wants further than this. Cheekpieces tried now and that may be enough in a race as bad as this.
Losing run now stretches out more than two years and recent efforts don't suggest it will be broken here.
Ran well on chase debut last month from well out of the handicap. Did too much in front last time and paid the price. If settling better in the hood she could take some catching around these bends. Good claimer on board.
Forecasts
Two Hoots (3/1), Third Act (4/1), Spiritofchartwell (11/2), Thomas Blossom (8/1), Code Of Law (10/1), Key To The West (10/1), Ballina Lady (10/1), Pierlow (14/1), Mr Muddle (14/1), Changing The Guard (40/1)
Few of these have convincing profiles and it may pay to side with track specialist SPIRITOFCHARTWELL whose record here in this grade cannot be faulted and he is just 1lb higher than when beating a similar bunch in March. Ballina Lady looks interesting off bottom weight if the hood helps her to settle, whilst Thomas Blossom will appreciate the shorter trip if the ground remains dry.
