Promise last year but form tailed off over the winter. Bounced back with a decent effort at Punchestown (3m, soft) last month when not beaten far off this mark. Should be competitive once more.
Form tailed off somewhat on final few starts in 2017. Has been given a seven month break and has switched to top yard. On a nice mark now and it would be no surprise to see a bold show.
Really tough individual that generally gives his all. Struggled a touch over fences of late and makes this interesting switch to hurdles off a 9lb lower mark than over fences. Likely to run his race.
Better effort over C&D (good) last time when making the running and only being headed late on. Question mark over this trip on that evidence and the is more competitive.
Last win came almost two years ago and it is three years since his last win over hurdles. Nicely treated here compared to his chase mark and this better ground will suit compared to what he has been running on.
Shaped nicely at Kilbeggan (2m6f, good) last time when shaping like this extra distance would suit. Should be cherry ripe now and every chance of a bold showing.
Been running over fences of late and crashed out at Punchestown on latest start. Reverts back to hurdles off a slightly lower mark and his best form is on a sound surface so a case can be made.
Progressive hurdler/chaser last year. Returns from a seven-month break here and is a decent mark based on his progression last season. Will be a big player if fit and ready and market should guide.
More has been expected on recent starts and is starting to look a bit disappointing. Fell when beaten on latest start at Naas (2m3f, soft) in a novice event. Hard to fancy at present.
Not disgraced on handicap hurdle debut at the Punchestown festival last month and can put the experience to good use here. Place claims from top stable.
Still racing 9lb higher than his last winning mark back in October and could find this a little tough given his struggles on good ground in the past.
Some promise in two point-to-point starts but is yet to transfer that to the track being well beaten in three maiden hurdle starts and a handicap at Down Patrick latest. Much more needed.
Forecasts
Lord In Red (4/1), Polar Present (4/1), Full Cry (7/1), Lasoscar (8/1), Carrigready (8/1), Wigs On The Green (8/1), Tourboy (10/1), The White Volcano (16/1), Presenting Julio (16/1), Heist (16/1), Top Of The Town (20/1), Mr Boss Man (25/1)
Gordon Elliot holds strong claims here with both TOP OF THE TOWN and Presenting Julio holding strong claims. Whilst the latter was progressive last year, this is his first start for seven months and he might need the run. The first named also returns from a long break but this is his first run for the yard and he’s on a good mark. Lasoscar and Full Cry head the list of dangers.
- Top Of The Town
- Presenting Julio
- Lasoscar
