C&D winner off 1lb higher last season but has lost his form in his two starts this season. Excuses both times with heavy ground and then a wide draw and possible he could bounce back at this track, on a quicker surface and down in grade.
Dark Angel colt who has made a good impression winning two from three including a very good novice race on his reappearance. Only likely to improve for leading trainer and over this extra furlong on handicap debut.
Won two AW novice races in March but was easy in the betting and ran below that level on turf and handicap debut. Dropped 2lb and represents an all powerful stable but possible he's not particularly well handicapped.
Second in a maiden at Glorious Goodwood to recent Chester Vase runner-up Dee Ex Bee and followed up with a Sandown maiden win that has worked out particularly well. Seasonal and handicap debut but remains an exciting prospect.
Had previously been withdrawn for being unruly so it was a really pleasing win when he showed big improvement to win on just his third start showing a smart turn of foot in a good time in December. Likely to improve at this trip for in form stable.
Had some good form last year and had excuses in two runs so far this year, with the distance against him in a tough race and getting wide last time. 4lb drop will help and not out of it.
Not too far behind Qaroun when lacking acceleration late on. Stable won this in 2012 but are quiet at present and although extra distance will help, hard to see him reversing the form.
Improved significantly in winning last twice and now up 7lb after overcoming a previous 10lb rise. Did it tough in his latest success and while this is a big step up he should be competitive.
Forecasts
Bathsheba Bay (7/2), Qaroun (7/2), Maverick Officer (11/2), Night Castle (13/2), Jazeel (7/1), Alrahaal (8/1), Ventura Knight (17/2), Odds On Oli (12/1)
A competitive three-year-old handicap where it's hard to put a line though any with some progressive types in opposition. BATHSHEBA BAY boasts some really smart maiden form and is interesting on his reappearance having looked the type capable of making his mark at a high level in handicaps. Maverick Officer represents a stable who can do little wrong and the penny really dropped last time and can take another step forward at this trip. Qaroun looked a smart sort winning a very competitive novice contest and represents leading connections. Odds On Oli is rapidly progressing while Ventura Knight gets more suitable conditions.
- Bathsheba Bay
- Maverick Officer
- Qaroun
