Major shout here having proved consistent as a juvenile before just failing to see out 1m on his seasonal reappearance at Kempton last month. 1lb lower now and wears a hood for the first time so looks a leading candidate.
Doesn't appear to hide any secrets from the handicapper and starts this campaign running for the first time since been gelded during the winter. Needs a step forward to land the spoils.
Just one start to date over this trip and that produced this gelding's only win from five starts to date. 3lb higher here and shaped as though he would be better for the run last time so very much enters calculations.
0-10 so far but ran well last time when kept on stoutly over extended 7f to be second at Beverley. 2lb higher but good apprentice claims 3lb so shouldn't be far away.
Didn't show much in two starts at HQ last year but went close in Wolverhampton 7f event in November. Returns after six-month break and may improve for the run so others preffered on this occasion.
Generally disappointing but nearly sprang a surprise when 33/1 second in Redcar 7f maiden last September. Eased 4lb since his last start nearly six month ago so worth a market check.
First outing in a handicap and has hinted at ability, notably when third at Chelmsford in December. Appears to have been saved for a turf campaign and shrewd yard can get them ready so expected to be on the premises.
Signs of some ability in six starts for Richard Hannon and makes his debut for new connections having been absent for 168 days. Jockey booking does catch the eye so would be no surprise to see him run with credit.
Ran a fair race on debut at Yarmouth last term but very disappointing in two start later on in the campaign. Starts handicapping off a feaisble mark but a leap of faith needed to support him.
Not a lot to write home about on evidence of five starts last term and is 3lb lower than when sigining off that campaign with a poor run at Leicester. Others make much more appeal.
Forecasts
Warsaan (13/8), Onefootinparadise (5/1), Austin Powers (8/1), Charles Fox (10/1), Strategic (11/1), Global Spirit (12/1), Lethal Angel (14/1), Sunstorm (14/1), Affluence (20/1), Comporta (33/1)
CHARLES FOX won on the only previous occasion he tackled this trip and he remains feasibly handicapped so sets the standard. The filly Lethal Angel could be set to improve this term and is of interest, while Onefootinparadise is another who appears to be getting his act together. Despite top weight Warsaan may be the biggest danger to the selection as he has the look of a horse who could potentially be better than we've seen to date.
- Charles Fox
- Warsaan
- Lethal Angel
