Well beaten in a Listed bumper at Limerick and similar tale on hurdles bow in novice contest at Navan in December. Needs a lot of improvement for this better ground on return.
Gone close in all four starts over timber, latest being creditable 3L third of 16 behind Dawn Shadow in Listed contest over similar trip here last time. Strong case can be made on that showing.
Twice-raced maiden, outran odds of 100/1 when last spotted in novice hurdle at Killarney (2m1f, good) when last seen in August. Sports a hood on return.
Decent effort when near 20L third on debut at Thurles (2m, heavy) in March but took a backwards step since at Cork when tailed off 12 days ago.
Didn't make much impression in three maiden hurdles last summer over variety of trips and then pulled up on handicap bow at Cork (2m3f, heavy) in August. Off since and all to prove back in maiden company.
Thurles bumper winner in October, not disgraced since in Listed/Graded races in that sphere and ranks as an interesting newcomer to hurdling ranks for the in-form Jessica Harrington team.
Modest record in seven starst over timber, latest when well fended off at Navan (2m, soft to heavy) in November on handicap bow. Eased only 1lb ahead of this return, looks up against it.
Raced in mid-division before finding no extra approaching the last and finishing sixth of 11 beaten 19L in a Kilbeggan maiden hurdle last time. More required.
Beaten a long way in a Cork bumper last month and also failed to find target in trio of point-to-points. Likely to stay a good bit further than 2m and doesn't make strong appeal for hurdles bow.
Went 23-races without success on the Flat and had no trouble extending that run on hurdles bow at Sligo (2m, yielding) this month when beaten to the tune of 24L. Didn't always jump fluently.
Sent off a 50/1 on hurdles bow at Tramore recently over this trip and in trouble a long way from home, being pulled up at the fourth last. Hard to recommend on that showing.
Filly was a Flat winner in Germany and while she hasn't achieved a lot in two starts at Cork and Fairyhouse in this sphere for Willie Mullins, there's still a decent chance she'll have more to offer.
No joy in three attempts in the point-to-point sphere and well held in bumpers at Wexford and Naas back in October/November. Returns from absence with plenty to work on.
Vinnie Roe mare likely to need a watching brief on debut unless market vibes are positive.
Stowaway mare who dam was a fairly modest winning hurdler. Wears hood on first rules start and was pulled up in both point-to-point starts. Best watched for now.
Not unfancied for Tramore bumper last time, finished fifth of seven, has been let down by the jumping at times in point-to-points. First outing over timber.
Back from a 420-day absence to win a couple of point-to-points this spring and shaped well on hurdling return at Fairyhouse (2m, soft) when beaten around 10L into fourth of 15 last month. May be able to improve on that showing.
Pair of fair efforts over timber at Clonmel earlier in the year over 2m-2m2½f, both on heavy ground, wouldn't need to improve a bag full to have her say in this.
66/1 and failed to beat a single rival home in an AW maiden Dundalk over 1m2½f in November on sole racecourse appearance. Hood on now, market will guide but a big bid seems unlikely.
Sans Frontieres filly wears an assortment of headgear for this first visit to the track, doesn't make immediate appeal on paper and market may reveal more.
Jeremy filly, dam an unraced half-sister to useful hurdler/high-class chaser Snoopy Loopy (stayed 3m+) and perhaps will need further than bare 2m in time to be at her best.
Big Bad Bob filly is a half-sister to fairly useful hurdler/chaser Gambling Girl, makes debut for Harrington team and booking of Barry Geraghty can only be a positive in her favour.
Useful Flat winner (rated 74) and returns from 203 days off to make hurdles debut. Best watched today, unless there are vibes to the contrary.
Stowaway filly, dam an unraced half-sister to useful hurdler/chaser Beroni (stayed 3m). Noted for the yard on debut, though likely to want further in time.
Modest Flat winner in England on the AW, off since October ahead of jumps bow and first start for Henry De Bromhead. No surprise if this handler can make a job of her over jumps.
Forecasts
Awayinthewest (10/11), Holding Pattern (9/4), Tin Town Liz (16/1), Mary Sun (16/1), Harrys Gift (18/1), Trumps Ace (20/1), Gambling Mistress (25/1), Stepney (25/1), Howluckycanwebe (33/1), Timetoget (50/1), Grey Willow (50/1), Im Waiting (50/1), Skid Roe (50/1), Impulsive Leader (50/1), Lady Argentum (66/1), Hey Groovy (66/1), Our Roxane (66/1), Cowtown (66/1), April Shadow (66/1), Longtimesincejaspr (100/1), Alice Johnston (100/1), Viempa (100/1), Ticaticatee (100/1), Lady Rococo (100/1), Highly Driven (100/1)
AWAYINTHEWEST has had her chances it could be said, but she's shown a decent level of form over timber without winning. Last month she was a pleasing third in a Listed Mares' novice hurdle here at the festival, a repeat of that will likely be good enough to see her landing this prize. Jessica Harrington could have a decent hand to play with Tramore bumper winner Holding Pattern and debutante Gambling Mistress both worthy of interest. Tin Town Liz and Trumps Ace have some form to note while Mary Sun will surely have more to offer sooner or later for the Closutton team.
