Narrowly beaten in a maiden contest over an extended 1m when making his debut a fortnight ago. Likely to play a leading role in this contest.

Victorious over 6f at Ayr (good) in July and acquitted himself well in a higher grade subsequently. Decent effort when third of 14 at Wetherby (7f, soft) on seasonal debut and likely to run well once more.

Off the mark at the second time of asking when victorious over this trip at Wetherby (good-to-soft) earlier this month. Interesting to see how he fares in this contest.

Finished well beaten in two 7f contests this year and beat just two rivals home in a 14 runner contest at Wetherby (soft) last time.
Never a factor prior to finishing 39L tenth on debut over 1m at Thirsk (good-to-soft) last month. Likely to struggle once more.
Improved on debut effort when finishing 11L fifth at Wetherby (7f, soft) last time out. Work to do if he's to reverse form with Regulator in this.

Beat just one rival home in a seven runner Haydock novice contest over 1m last month. Others have more obvious claims.

Forecasts

Dayking (4/5), Regulator (9/4), Pacific Fleet (5/1), Symposing (9/1), Airglow (14/1), Thunder Buddy (20/1), Ashlar (25/1), Changing Minds (40/1), Rolladice (50/1), Summer Angel (66/1), Little Poem (66/1), Carlton Thomas (66/1)

Verdict

Turf debutant DAYKING can go one better than when finishing runner-up at Wolverhampton on debut by taking this novice contest. The selection represents leading connections here and can make his first start over 7f a winning one by getting the better of Regulator who ran well at Wetherby on seasonal debut. Pacific Fleet proved a disappointment last time out but he looks capable of claiming third here.
  1. Dayking
  2. Regulator
  3. Pacific Fleet
