5/1
First start for over a year and out of sorts on his most recent starts, but well-treated on his best form and interesting to see if change of trainer makes a difference.

Briac13
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-12| J: Jack Sherwood(3)| T: M Pattinson| OR:  100| BF| D
11/2
Not disgraced off this mark on his last start over hurdles, and though he's run poorly on the Flat since the return to obstacles may suit; sounder surface unlikely to be an issue.

Just 1-18 so far, and that came in a weak maiden hurdle, but ran fairly well at Leicester last time out and on a similar mark here.
4

Ladofashp19
Age: 4|  Weight: 11-8| J: Harry Reed(5)| T: C Gordon| OR:  100

0-5 over hurdles so far but occasional form on the Flat and 8lb drop from his last run over obstacles means he could be seen to better effect now.
5
Horse silk
Royal Hallv75
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-7| J: James Bowen(3)| T: G & J Moore| OR:  95
15/2
First run over hurdles since February 2017, having had an unsuccessful period on the Flat since. Hasn't shown enough under either code to be of interest here.

Laketour Leader19
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-6| J: A Glassonbury| T: R Rowe| OR:  94
25/1
Point-to-point winner, but yet to make any sort of impression under rules and 6lb drop from handicap debut last time out likely to be far from enough.
7
Horse silk
Takeitfromaladyp111
Age: 9|  Weight: 11-3| J: M Goldstein| T: D Steele| OR:  91| D
20/1
Pulled-up on return to hurdling last time out and needs first-time cheek pieces to bring about an unfeasible amount of improvement based on his recent Flat form.
8
Horse silk
Ermyn's Emerald138
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-0| J: Sean Houlihan(5)| T: P Phelan| OR:  88
5/1
0-12 in his career so far and considerable improvement needed on his seventh placed finish when last seen out on Boxing Day; has been dropped 2lb.
9
Horse silk
Austin Friarst12
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-11| J: Brendan Powell| T: J & S Best| OR:  85| CD
12/1
First run over hurdles since October 2016, and just a few outings on the Flat since. Just 2lb higher than when winning on his last start over obstacles which makes him of interest.

Horse silk
Elusive Cowboyp23
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-9| J: Page Fuller(5)| T: Miss M P Bryant| OR:  83
50/1
Yet to get off the mark over hurdles and impossible to build a case for having been pulled-up on first start for this yard last time out.
12
Horse silk
Olymniab949
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-8| J: J McGrath| T: G & J Moore| OR:  82
25/1
Not seen on a racecourse since October 2015, and almost all her form to date leaves her with plenty to find with the best of these.
13
Horse silk
Gin And Tonicb60
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-5| J: Wayne Hutchinson| T: M Wigham| OR:  79| D
9/2
Down to his most recent winning mark and track likely to suit on his first start here. Ground versatile and he's one for the shortlist.
14
Horse silk
Spice Boat12
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-0| J: Charlie Hammond(7)| T: P Butler| OR:  74
66/1
Hasn't beaten a horse home in four starts over hurdles to date including being pulled-up three times, and switch to handicaps here unlikely to improve that record too much.

Forecasts

Gin And Tonic (9/2), Brother Bennett (9/2), Makethedifference (5/1), Ermyn's Emerald (5/1), Briac (11/2), Kalaskadesemilley (7/1), Royal Hall (15/2), Ladofash (9/1), Austin Friars (12/1), Takeitfromalady (20/1), Olymnia (25/1), Laketour Leader (25/1), Elusive Cowboy (50/1), Spice Boat (66/1)

Verdict

A number of these have very little significant form of which to speak, though Gin And Tonic should be suited by this track on his first run at this venue, while Brother Bennett can't be ruled out having won over fences last time out. However the suggestion is BRIAC. Having run poorly on the Flat last time out, he was seen to much better effect over hurdles off this mark two starts back, and the sounder surface here shouldn't be a problem.
  1. Briac
  2. Gin And Tonic
  3. Brother Bennett
