Struggled in three starts so far, application of a hood (discarded) last time on turf debut at Limerick (1m, heavy) making little impact. Up against it.

Camelot colt. Dam ran twice and closely related to useful French 1m winner Mabalane. Strong start when second in 1m2f maiden at Cork on heavy last month and should go close to breaking duck.

Galileo colt cost 600,000 gns as a yearling, plenty going for him on pedigree but faces some potentially smart rivals, two stablemates amongst the worries for him.

Galileo colt for which connections paid €260,000 as a yearling, interesting newcomer with champion jockey booked to steer.

Has been slowly away on both his starts to date at Dundalk. Has hinted at ability in both of those runs but qualifies for handicaps after this run and that may be the likelier winning route.

Galileo colt changed hands for €52,000 as a two-year-old, trainer amongst the winners here yesterday and going well.

Colt by Galileo out of a Green Desert mare, fourth of 11 in a Navan maiden over this trip on debut on soft going, should improve for O'Brien team.

Runner-up in 1m1f Group 3 at Leopardstown in October, promises plenty on pedigree. Short-price favourite at Cork (1m2f, heavy) last month in maiden and dropped out quickly. Surely better than that.

Foxwedge colt cost connections 21,000 gns as a yearling, looks unlikely to have a leading role on debut outing.

Forecasts

Arthurian Fame (6/4), Frankincense (2/1), Giuseppe Garibaldi (5/1), Dawn Trouper (5/1), Broad Street (6/1), Carlo Biraghi (7/1), Persian Lion (10/1), Astronomer (12/1), Barrier Reef (20/1), All Saints Day (25/1), Desert Isle (33/1), Whispering Paddy (40/1), Bilboa Lane (50/1), Samuel Phelps (100/1)

Verdict

GIUSEPPE GARIBALDI went out like the proverbial light last month at Cork on his return, on ground that was just about raceable. His previous runner-up in a Group 3 at Leopardstown in the autumn would set the standard here however and can bounce back on ground that should be much better, irrespective of the description. Stablemate Frankincense will be no pushover while Arthurian Fame also has potential based on debut run. Newcomers Carlo Biraghi, Broad Street and Dawn Trouper all bare closer scrutiny.
  1. Giuseppe Garibaldi
  2. Frankincense
  3. Dawn Trouper
