Patchy form over hurdles recently and has a couple of questions to answer back over fences, but would have a chance on his best and conditional rider is good value for her claim.
Only previous win over fences was off a mark much higher than this, but that was well over three years ago. Took a step in the right direction with his performance at Fontwell last time, though.
Hardly the most frequent of winners and hasn't shown much at on his last few starts, beating just the odd rival home. Mark quickly going down but needs a return to form.
Slightly disappointing when last seen at Leicester in December and still yet to get off the mark, but shouldn't have an issue with this mark and trip/ground both fine.
Made belated chase debut at Southwell last time out, but didn't show enough there to be of interest on handicap debut in this sphere now.
1/24 in chases and his poor performance at Exeter last time when he was well-beaten means he makes no appeal here.
Generally moderate efforts over fences recently, though hinted at a return to form at Huntingdon two starts back and was racing from way out of the handicap when well-beaten last time out.
Not disgraced on first run for over a year at Taunton last time. On a similar mark here and holds strong claims if building on that performance.
Went straight from novice hurdles to handicap chases, and ran well on debut in this sphere last time out. Down 5lb and dropped back in trip, she may be able to go even closer this time.
C&D winner who hasn't been able to play a role in handicap chases on his last two starts, though the drop back in trip may help.
Forecasts
Alpine Secret (11/4), Ballina Lady (9/2), Heurtevent (6/1), Northandsouth (13/2), Brinestine (8/1), Key To The West (9/1), Shininstar (12/1), Aza Run (16/1), Mr Muddle (20/1), Holeinthewall Bar (40/1)
This could be SHININSTAR's time to return to form having looked like he was coming back to himself two starts ago. He subsequently disappointed last time out but that run can be easily forgiven as he was racing from a long way out of the handicap, and now able to run off his actual mark he looks a danger to all with conditions likely to be fine for him. Ballina Lady on only her second chase start, and Key To The West having his second run since wind surgery, look the main dangers.
- Shininstar
- Ballina Lady
- Key To The West
