Showed very little in bumpers and struggled on his Flat debut (raced freely) and finished well held. Makes little appeal here.

Had two runs in France last year for Mme C. Head-Maarekand showed up well on his debut over a mile. Proved below-par on his only other start over 1m2f and might need this first run for his new yard.
Price increased €50,000 from foal to a two-year-old and she has a nice pedigree being a half-sister to 7f winner Top Draw plus other useful sorts. Type to improve for the outing though and best watched for now.

Not seen again after winning on his second start at Salisbury (7f, good) having chased down his stablemate in good style. That completed a positive start to his career and he looks the sort to go on improving (has been gelded).

Half brother to a 1m4f winner who cost €100,000 as a two-year-old and looks quite stoutly bred overall. Yard have a promising newcomer in the first division and should always be respected with this type.

Looks the sort to progress this year having shown plenty to work on from his sole run last year over this trip at Sandown. Considerately handled there and should be all the better for that; more to come.

Improved from first to second run and looks the type who will continue that upward curve. Tries turf for the first time here but should be able to play a part with two runs under his belt.

Hood goes on for the first time having started at a big price (66/1) on his debut at Newmarket. Finished well held in the end but may have ended up in the wrong group and better than his finishing position; should improve.

Attracted minor support on his AW debut but ran very green and never looked likely to justify any faith. Looks as though he needs further than this trip but does have ability and can progress in time.

Did better after a six-month absence on his second run trying 1m2f for the first time although he still looked to need the experience. Now steps back to a mile and looks one for handicaps once he gains a mark.

Made favourite at the backend of last year for a mile novice at Newmarket he ran far better that his runner-up placing suggests having been posted wide all the way. A repeat of that run will see him go close here if he's ready to go after a break.

Almost defied long odds (50/1) to win his debut (1m) on the AW looking as though there was better to come (finished strongly). Given how well he finished on his debut it was a surprise to see him make his comeback over 7f; return to a mile will suit.

Yard are rather quiet at the moment and aren't normally associated with debut winners so this daughter of Kyllachy is best watched on her first run.

Silver Quartz (10/11), Bullingdon (10/3), Sod's Law (8/1), Birthright (14/1), Brancaster (14/1), Mainsail Atlantic (16/1), Decoration Of War (16/1), Bold Warrior (16/1), Alexanderthegreat (20/1), Havana Breeze (33/1), Martinengo (33/1), Koshi (50/1), Valdizar (66/1), Amanda's Teddy (100/1)

Verdict

The form shown by those that have already run in this looks a little stronger than that shown in the first division. Bullingdon has made a good start to his career and it was a shame that he was restricted to a couple of outings as a juvenile his penalty might just make things a little more testing for him here on his return. SILVER QUARTZ ran an eye-catching race at the end of last season and a repeat of that will see him go close here. Sod’s Law is another potential threat along with Birthright and Decoration Of War. Alexanderthegreat appears to be the pick of those making their debuts based on how well his trainer does with this sort.
  1. Silver Quartz
  2. Bullingdon
  3. Sod's Law
