A winner of two novice races on the AW so far this year. Makes turf/handicap debut here off a high enough mark, but open to plenty of further improvement for an in-form yard.
Last of all in the Craven Stakes last time out and drops to this much easier level of competition. This is obviously easier but this looks tougher than his only previous run in a handicap (finished second).
This is obviously easier than the Group 3/Listed contests he was outclassed in last year, and a novice win at York showed he possesses ability. First run since October now, though.
Disappointing odds-on favourite at Wolverhampton last time out but may have needed that first run back, and this step up in trip is likely to suit. Should be able to improve on that last run.
Yet to get off the mark but has finished second on each of his last three starts. Back to turf shouldn't be an issue and should be capable of hitting the frame once again.
Off the mark easily two starts ago at Southwell but clearly acts on turf as well having run fairly well on handicap debut at Ripon last time out. Off the same mark and can improve on that. Blinkers on.
Hasn't really threatened to get off the mark to date despite some fine efforts. Needs to improve on turf debut at Musselburgh last time but sounder surface here may help.
Forecasts
Masaarr (9/4), Magnificent (11/4), Night Castle (4/1), Kripke (6/1), Chingachgook (10/1), Ulshaw Bridge (12/1), Sir Hamilton (20/1)
Night Castle should run well on handicap debut, but looks high enough in the weights for this handicap debut, and preference is for MASAARR. He disappointed at Wolverhampton when odds-on last time but shaped as if this step up in trip should suit, and he may be better with the benefit of a run under his belt as well. Magnificent has shown plenty of ability to date without getting off the mark and could also have a say.
