Only took a 5f claimer when with John Quinn last year despite having plenty of chances. Picked up for just 1,000 guineas by his current yard she repaid the investment straight away given a perfect scenario (5f, Catterick); 3lb well-in here.
Winner of a small-field AW maiden she got back on track after a poor handicap debut when taking second behind Seen The Lyte last time. 6lb better off for 3L he's well placed to attack again; Catterick form already franked (third won next time out).
Caught the eye on a couple of occasions when with her former yard especially on her last run of 2017 over 6f on the AW. Hasn't as yet really fired for this yard in two starts (both on AW); now back on turf but handicapper not relenting.
Three runs as a juvenile in minor/maiden events at up to 7f he didn't show obvious promise but it always looked as though handicaps were the aim. Gelded and needing the run he was next seen over 6f on testing ground in April for his handicap debut.
Most of her form so far has been relatively poor including her two runs in handicaps one over C&D (final run of 2017). Returned over 5f at Windsor on heavy ground she finished last; now off a basement mark in a first-time visor.
Showed very little last year apart from one run at Beverley where she showed some speed in a 5f soft ground claimer. Her one run in a handicap was below-par off a mark of 48 and she's now dropped a further 2lb on her return and second handicap start.
Forecasts
Seen The Lyte (6/4), Carpet Time (9/4), Honey Gg (5/1), Gullane One (13/2), Super Florence (14/1), Orient Princess (28/1)
A fascinating rematch between a pair that met at Catterick last time finishing 1-2 although at the weights the placings could be reversed this time. CARPET TIME gave best to Seen The Lyte last time but from a favourable draw and better off at the weights on a speed favouring track the result could be reversed this time around. Super Florence shaped well on a couple of occasions last year and despite not as yet firing for her new yard she could well have more to come although the handicapper could do with relenting a little. Gullane One could yet show some form in handicaps and he may find this 5f on good ground a more suitable test in this sphere.
- Carpet Time
- Seen The Lyte
- Super Florence
