Running well in handicaps having returned from a break this year but looks as though she could do with a little more respite from the handicapper. This is an ease in grade but she was well below form last time and needs to bounce back.
The novice that he won last summer at Epsom was only a weak affair at Epsom over 6f. He hasn't been disgraced since he returned to action but he could do with some help from the handicapper.
This will be his turf debut having run four times on the AW making his handicap debut last time under the same inexperienced rider. Showed improved form on that occasion and runs off the same mark here but is back 2f in trip.
C&D winner after being gelded and in first-time cheekpieces on his penultimate start last September although he did take some time to get going. Only see once since when neaten over C&D (race may have come too soon); now returns off a long break.
Fair performer as a juvenile (won twice) but may not have had the chance her price suggested on her comeback run on the AW over a mile. Ran below her best there although a return to a soft turf surface may help.
Failed to build on his debut run where she was green but showed promise last year when switched to the AW. Given a break she again ran poorly on the AW over 6f; now upped in trip and going into handicaps; not written off yet given her pedigree.
Appeared to make a return to form on his handicap debut after a long absence in April over 6f on the AW. Stepped up to his trip but still on the AW next time he ran below-par and may need some more ease applied to his mark.
Forecasts
Sociologist (10/3), Shrewd Approach (4/1), Groundnut (4/1), Rastacap (6/1), Rivas Rob Roy (7/1), Chess Move (7/1), Downtown Mombasa (17/2)
Not a particularly easy contest to get a handle on although Rastacap should appreciate being back against her own age group but probably needs some help with her mark. Sociologist needs to transfer his improved form last time onto turf dropping back in trip while Chess Move is another who looks to need some help from the handicapper. Downtown Mombasa hasn’t so far lived up to her pedigree but entering handicap company may well see her in a better light. SHREWD APPROACH was disappointing last time but she did win twice last year and has shown that she can handle a soft surface and she may be able to bounce back for a yard that place their horses well.
- Shrewd Approach
- Downtown Mombasa
- Rastacap
