Hooded for his debut he did show some slight signs of inexperience but in the end he got the job done well when winning over a mile at Chelmsford. The form hasn't been tested as yet but he did beat an odds-on favourite and looks sure to progress.

Split two useful sorts on debut and built on that form when going one better after a nine month break at Chelmsford over a mile last time. Was all out to win but suspect there is a bit more to come; hood worn last time is now removed.

Ran as if he was in need of the experience on debut at Doncaster (1m2f, heavy) having started at 33/1 but showed very little next time out over 2f shorter. This will be his AW debut and probably better off in handicaps once he gains a mark.

Cost $100,000 as a yearling is related to a couple of winners in America. Dam was a two-year-old 7f winner who stayed 1m4f. Interesting sort on debut from a good yard; should be noted in the market.

Half-brother to a useful winner up to 2m Mandatario with the dam and unraced half-sister to a useful 1m winner. Looks to have tough task on debut though against some useful types with experience.

Has twice shaped well (first time under a sympathetic ride) on turf at trips up to 1m1f and should make further progress this year. This will be his AW debut and he might just need the run after an absence but remains one to keep an eye on.

Forecasts

Mootasadir (4/5), Well Suited (9/4), Starcaster (13/2), Laughing Stranger (14/1), Master of The Moon (22/1), Dawn Commando (100/1)

Verdict

This could well be an informative contest with MOOTASADIR looking to build on and progress from his Chelmsford debut where he looked a useful sort who can handle a penalty in this. Well Suited also got off the mark on the same course but didn’t impress as much while the newcomer Laughing Stranger should be noted in the market he certainly wasn’t cheap. Starcaster now makes his AW debut and should be up to winning at this level or in a handicap given the promise he showed last year although he might just need this after an absence.
