Off the mark at the fifth attempt when winning a 1m½f handicap in first-time cheekpieces at this track earlier this month. Headgear is retained and, being so lightly raced, there is a fair chance he can cope with a 3lb rise over this extra furlong.

First run since a wind operation when finishing a good third of eight over C&D last month. Should be on the premises again off the same handicap mark.

Well beaten in three handicaps since joining current trainer, but has dropped 14lb. Has quite a bit to find with Rubensian on recent C&D form.

Still a maiden after 15 starts, seven of them on the AW. Well held off 1lb higher over 1m4f at this track last time and has plenty to prove over this shorter distance.

Has run over C&D on his last three starts, winning once and finishing runner-up on the other two occasions, latterly finishing ahead of Rubensian. May struggle to confirm the form on 2lb worse terms and with stable a little quiet.

Returning from quite a long break when well beaten over 1m at Kempton earlier this month. Started favourite that day, however, so no surprise to see a better display this time.

Knocking on the door on last two starts over C&D. Has a 1lb rise to cope with and connections reach for cheekpieces in a bid to get her back on the winning track.

Off the mark at the seventh attempt when scoring decisively under this jockey over C&D last month. Has been raised 6lb, but that may not stop him with further improvement on the cards.

Experienced performer who is a regular at this track and usually produces a sound display. Has not won for a long time, however, and there is no suggestion that is about to change off his current mark.

Forecasts

Raakid (2/1), My Fantasea (11/4), Rubensian (7/2), Star Ascending (6/1), Caramuru (14/1), Ice Canyon (14/1), Laqab (16/1), Perceived (20/1), Berlusca (22/1), The Groove (28/1), Illustrissime (33/1)

Verdict

The lightly-raced Caramuru has strong claims with the extra distance of this race expected to suit, but he has to concede plenty of weight to RAAKID, who got off the mark over C&D last month and can follow up off 6lb higher. Rubensian showed the benefit of a wind operation when shaping well on his latest start and can get involved, while the money which came for The Groove last time suggests there is more to come from him.
