Placed over an extended 1m3f at Haydock (good-to-soft) last September but struggled in three subsequent starts and drops markedly in trip on his first outing since having a wind operation having ran over 2m2f at Newmarket (good) last time.

Winner of his first two starts most recently over 1m2f at Sandown (good) last June. Fair efforts in two of his three subsequent starts and is one for the shortlist on seasonal debut with improvement likely.

Twice a winner in a 21 race career to date and some fair efforts on the AW in late 2017. Well over three years since he last won however and he is vulnerable to less exposed rivals.

Finished runner-up over an extended 1m1f at Wolverhampton in December. Races off a 1lb higher mark in this and he is interesting having placed off higher marks in the past.

Broke his maiden at the ninth time of asking when winning over this trip at Chelmsford on debut for this yard last month. Raised 8lb for that success and more needed in this.

Verdict

The well-bred FRONTISPIECE can make a winning reappearance in what looks a competitive small field handicap. Trainer Sir Michael Stoute has won this twice in recent years and his charge who ran well in a highly competitive Goodwood contest last August can get the better of Andok who has run well off higher marks in the past. Grey Britain finished well beaten in the Lincoln here last time but this trip looks more to his liking.
