Got a win under his belt when taking a 3m handicap hurdle earlier in the weak getting home bay a narrow margin. Hard a fairly hard race and now drops down 4f in trip and saddled with a 7lb penalty; may find a follow-up hard.

Back from a break having proved to be fairly disappointing on his handicap debut at Ayr late last year. Did win a bumper on debut and has run well enough in novice events and worth another chance off this mark.

Very consistent of late and has flourished of late wining two handicaps before running with great credit last time in a 0-130. Now drops in grade again trying a longer trip and will have leading claims if handling the quick return.

Castletownb6
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-7| J: Ross Turner(7)| T: Miss P Robson| OR:  100

Well treated at the weights and in good form of late but still yet to win a race and his second from out of the weights at Ayr recently was very much typical of him. His consistency is hard to knock but his finishing effort is suspect.

Mixes and matches hurdles with fences although you have to go back to early 2015 to find his last win although he remains above that mark. Underperformed when last seen over hurdles and not hard to pass over here.

Failed in make much of a impact in handicaps when he was last seen in the autumn. Now returns on the back of a wind op but more needed here.

Steps back up in trip now having been well held at Carlisle last time out. Had looked as though he was working his way back to form prior to his last run and this trip should suit.

Returns from a long break having last been seen over fences (chase debut) finishing well held. She's been given a chance by the handicapper but given the length of the absence is probably best watched for now.

Dolly's Dot13
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-2| J: Thomas Dowson(3)| T: V Thompson| OR:  81| D

Looks an improved performer of late having taken a Sedgefield handicap in heavy ground and backed that up when second at Newcastle. Appears suited by testing conditions and may make use of her light weight in this.

Cadorep81
Age: 10|  Weight: 10-0| J: Grant Cockburn(3)| T: Mrs L B Normile| OR:  70| C

Twice a winner around here he's very well handicapped on his old form but looks to be rather out of sorts at the moment. Runs from a fair way out of the handicap.

Forecasts

Castletown (9/4), Le Braye (3/1), Our Lucas (10/3), Echo Express (8/1), Mayze Bell (10/1), Dolly's Dot (12/1), Highland Peak (14/1), Shanaway (16/1), Ardmillan (22/1), Moores Novelty (25/1), Cadore (40/1), My Escapade (50/1)

Verdict

The consistency of OUR LUCAS is hard to fault at the moment and he travelled like the best horse in the race when narrowly touched off in a better race than this last week at Ayr. Dolly’s Dot is another to have shown improved form of late and she looks likely to run her race again as does Castletown although his finishing effort is still something to question. Le Braye may find this tougher than when winning here earlier in the weak and he now carries a penalty having had a hard race while Echo Express can’t be ruled out of this despite disappointing on his handicap debut.
  1. Our Lucas
  2. Dolly's Dot
  3. Castletown
