Beat two other finishers at Milborne St Andrew in February on good ground and has had his limitations exposed since. Possibly aiming too high here.
Winner of a class three handicap chase at Chepstow on quick ground a year ago. Has undergone wind surgery and he could bounce back under a top amateur over a trip which seems his optimum.
Wide margin winner at Plumpton last spring off a mark of 107. Consistency has never been his strong suit and he needs to find a fair bit of improvement to beat some of these.
Wide margin winner at Newcastle last year off a mark of 94 when ground conditions were good. Pulled-up on point-to-point debut when conditions were slower than ideal, but he still has plenty to find.
Hasn't won a point-to-point since 2014 and recent efforts fall a long way short of what's required here. Others preferred.
Hit a mark of 137 in his prime for Philip Hobbs, but fortunes have been on the slide over the past 18 months with no signs of an upswing.
Much better than these on his day and stable have a good record in this type of contest. Has shown temperament and he might want further, but if a spell of hunting has freshened him up he will take plenty of beating.
Prolific winning pointer who beat a good field at Badbury Rings last time. Makes rules debut with Paul Nicholls' talented amateur on board and worth checking in the market.
Forecasts
Port Melon (5/4), Tom Barton (9/4), Such A Legend (7/1), Starkie (12/1), No Likey (12/1), Boher Call (14/1), Treat Yourself (33/1), Driftwood Pride (33/1)
Tom Barton brings the best point-to-point form into this but on paper he faces a stiff task against PORT MELON who was a useful chaser at his best. Paul Nicholls has a good record in these races and his chaser may do better following a break and a return to less competitive company. Such A Legend was a Chepstow winner over this trip a year ago off a mark of 123 and conditions are set for him to produce his best run since.
- Port Melon
- Tom Barton
- Such A Legend
