Early season chase promise seems to be fading away very quickly and although he was far from disgraced when weakening out of it late in the Pertemps Final at Cheltenham last time his chase form leaves a bit to be desired.
Very useful hurdler, took his time to warm to fences but getting the hang of it and plenty of placings to his name. Will appreciate this step back up in trip after his staying on second at Kempton over 2m last time and handles the ground.
Falling quickly in the handicap after some moderate efforts this term, and even if he was to bounce back to form, may well find this trip on the short side for him, although will like the better ground. Yard struggling for winners too.
Has his own ideas about the game, and doesn't always produce what he looks like he will in a finish. Jumping becoming a concern after two non-completions as well and the main positive is the yard, who are coming into a bit of form.
Often front runs, good jumper that needs a sound surface and a tight track to show his best, so has those conditions here. Been in good form over the spring and no reason for him not to run his race after another solid effort at Fakenham last time.
Takes a big drop in class, which will help his cause, and needs this sort of ground to show his best. Into the veteran stage now, though, and not really showing enough spark to be considered a likely winner at this stage.
Rated much higher over hurdles and very well treated should it all click, but the concern is the weak finishing efforts he's been putting in. On that score, this better ground should help and with the trip ideal, should be considered.
Can pop up unexpectedly from time to time and that would be the case here, as his form this spring has left plenty to be desired. Return to quicker ground will help but even so, others come here with stronger claims.
Not badly treated on some of last season's efforts, trip and likely quick ground both ideal and although not seen out since October has run well after a break, so has a few things going for him. Not discounted.
Forecasts
Theo's Charm (11/4), Princeton Royale (7/2), Kayf Blanco (9/2), Savello (11/2), Champagne At Tara (11/1), Monsieur Co (12/1), Call Me Vic (14/1), Mercers Court (16/1), Theatre Mill (33/1)
With the ground quickening up all the time, PRINCETON ROYALE looks the most likely to run his race here and with the likelihood of an uncontested lead as well, can make all the running. Champagne At Tara is tricky to catch right but if he's on a going day, and is produced at the right time (later the better) might be capable of shaking up the selection. The lightly raced Monsieur Co must be capable of better over fences and shouldn't be dismissed. Savello and Theatre Mill are both capable on their day too.
- Princeton Royale
- Champagne At Tara
- Monsieur Co
