Got off the mark at the second attempt in Irish point-to-points before being bought for £68,000. Well held on both his starts under Rules and could hardly gave been said to have shown much promise on his hurdles debut last time.

Scored in a bumper on debut (only run for Micky Hammond) before making his hurdles debut for his current connections. Fell on that occasion (looked threatening) before being pulled-up last time (irregular heartbeat); may be best watched.

His first run over hurdles suggested that he would be one for later and that's been proved by two subsequent poor runs. In fact he's offered little in his two most recent starts and faded quickly in his latest start; others preferred.
On the evidence of his latest start (hurdles debut) looks as though he'll need more time and distance. His two runs in bumpers were only modest also and much more is needed here to make an impact.

Capable of some useful form on the Flat (latest win came off a mark of 76) he looked at home on his hurdles debut with more to come. May welcome this sharper test on his second hurdles outing and sure to go close.

Lightly-raced since winning a bumper back at the end of 2015 his hurdles runs once they have come have been very disappointing. Fared poorly on his last two starts after a long break and little expected here.

Successful on his sole outing in point-to-points (cost €80,000 out of that sphere) he's shown ability on his sole start in a bumper and over hurdles. Looks a stayer though and now drops to a bare 2m and may find this too sharp for him.

Has just one standout hurdles run to his name and not much else and even that run is becoming a distant memory now. Has been tried in handicaps but was pulled-up last time out and not much expected here.

Makes his hurdles debut here having looked to offer something to work on from his bumper debut. However, he failed to show any progress from that initial outing and looks as though he needs a test of stamina to show more.

Modest handicapper on the Flat although he has won 11 times in all. Now makes a belated switch to hurdles at the age of ten. Stays well on the Flat (1m6f) but only makes a limited appeal switching disciplines.

Won a maiden on the Flat over 1m4f (given a mark of 80) and has shown some ability over hurdles (fell on debut). Offered something to work on next time though (settled better) finishing runner-up to a subsequent Aintree winner (Havana Beat).

Verdict

A rather mixed bag go to post in this but one or two have shown some promise for the future over hurdles so far none more so than THISTIMENEXTYEAR who was decent enough on the Flat and appears to have recovered well from a debut fall over hurdles. His run last time showed him in a much better light and a repeat of that will take him close here. Cloudy Glen hasn’t quite taken his chances over hurdles yet but he’s to be respected along with Out Of Style who may prefer a longer trip. L’Inganno Felice also looked the past on his hurdles debut and this quicker and easier track may suit his run style a lot better.
