Has three hurdles wins to his name at this venue. Just about gets this trip, though has mostly been campaigned at around 2m4f and although he handles the forecast conditions, he probably wants good ground over this far.

Killala Quayb20
Age: 11|  Weight: 12-0| J: J J Burke| T: C E Longsdon| OR:  122| D
15/2
Scored over this trip at Doncaster (good) n February 2017 from 8lb higher. Best two runs since have both been back there. Acts on good to soft and this is more like his level after being pulled up in a class 2 at Haydock last time. Not ruled out.

Capard Kingp40
Age: 9|  Weight: 11-12| J: W T Kennedy| T: J & A O'Neill| OR:  120| CD
3/1
Dual C&D winner on soft ground (has also won on good/good to soft) but without success for two years. Has been back in better form of late from this mark and should be competitive. Needs to eek out a bit more to win again.
4

The Fresh Prince140
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-12| J: Conor Shoemark| T: O Sherwood| OR:  120| DWS
16/1
Scored over 2m4f (heavy) at Uttoxeter in January 2017 but has been unable to repeat that level of form. Has had wind surgery since last seen in December and if that has worked then he may be able to find a bit more over this longer trip.

Age: 7|  Weight: 11-9| J: N de Boinville| T: B Pauling| OR:  117| CD
9/1
Recorded his sole success here in a 3m novices' hurdle (good to soft) last season. Has not come close to that form in handicap hurdles/chases since then. Mark looks attractive on what he achieved over hurdles but has a fair bit to prove.

Has not added to his back-to-back Ludlow wins (3m1½f, good to soft) from 2014. Came closest to doing so at Stratford 10-months ago when 4lb higher, but off form since and now returns after wind surgery. Probably best watched.
7
Horse silk
Sands Cove34
Age: 11|  Weight: 11-3| J: Benjamin Poste| T: H J Evans| OR:  111| C| D
33/1
Has not seen much action since winning a Market Rasen handicap chase (3m, soft) in November 2015, when 4lb higher. Was off the track for two years prior to his Kempton return last month and carries risks on that evidence.
8

Shinooki87
Age: 11|  Weight: 11-2| J: Kielan Woods| T: A M Hales| OR:  110| CD
20/1
Successful over fences in 2015 but his three wins since have all been over hurdles. Trip and ground are no problem and he is just 3lb higher than when going close at Hereford over fences in November. Bit to prove, however, given his last two runs.
9
Horse silk
Riddlestownb22
Age: 11|  Weight: 11-2| J: Fergus Gregory(5)| T: C Fryer| OR:  110| CD
8/1
Multiple winner over hurdles/fences who stays well and handles most ground. 1lb lower today than when last winning at Towcester in May and is not ruled out back over this longer trip than when returning from a break last time.

Captain Mowbrayp48

6/1
Got off the mark in amazing circumstances at Wetherby (3m, soft) in December and not far off that level in both chases since (from this mark). Respected in this field but his win record does not make good reading and he has each-way claims.

Steps And Stairs27
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-13| J: Dave Crosse| T: Henry Oliver| OR:  107| CD
6/1
Stays 3m/acts with cut and this former Jonjo O'Neill inmate won at the first time of asking for this trainer at Sedgefield in February (2m3½f, soft). Produced a similar effort from today's 5lb higher mark last time and again has frame claims.

Forecasts

Capard King (3/1), Steps And Stairs (6/1), Captain Mowbray (6/1), Killala Quay (15/2), Riddlestown (8/1), Gorsky Island (9/1), Nobuttaboy (9/1), Cusheen Bridge (14/1), The Fresh Prince (16/1), Shinooki (20/1), Sands Cove (33/1)

Verdict

Killala Quay has claims again now back at a more realistic level, while money for The Fresh Prince now stepped up in trip after wind surgery would be interesting. RIDDLESTOWN gets the vote, however, after a nice pipe-opener over shorter last time and from a handy mark today. Captain Mowbray and Steps And Stairs are respected and not ruled out of the prizes.
