Took a Newcastle maiden in May 2017 by 3¾L, and improved with each and every appearance thereafter winning a further three races and earning a mark of 102 to kick start this campaign. This rates as her toughest task yet.

Promises to be suited by drying underfoot conditions having been bogged down in the mud here on Good Friday. That said; she doesn't appear anywhere near good enough ability wise on these terms.

Got up close home to take a 5f Windsor handicap by a nose in June 2017, but never really competitive in three subsequent starts, including over C&D. Looks firmly up against it at Listed level on her seasonal reappearance.

Winner of the 5f Listed Westow Stakes at York in May 2017 (good to soft), beating Kyllang Rock by a head, she failed to register further success thereafter, but was a very creditable third in a Group 3 sprint at Chantilly in September (soft).

Won twice on a sound surface last season at Doncaster (July) and Sandown (September). Can be overly head-strong, and that trait led to her downfall on her final start at Ascot in early October. Plenty to find at the weights.

Progressed quickly towards the back-end of the season winning 6f contests at Brighton (good) and Pontefract (soft) in the space of three days during September 2017. Posted a career best effort on her final start at Newmarket in October (6f Listed).

Unbeaten in five starts during a breath-taking juvenile campaign which culminated with Group 3 success in the Cornwallis Stakes at Newmarket in October 2016 (5f). Missed the majority of last season after a tame effort at Chantilly in April 2017.

A decisive winner of a competitive Class 3 Goodwood Handicap in August 2017 (5f soft) she's held her own in stronger company since without threatening to add to that success. Beaten just over 1L by Under The Covers on Good Friday (heavy).

Shock winner of a 6f Kempton maiden in September 2017, she backed up that success with a fine second to Encore D'Or in the Listed Scarborough Stakes at Doncaster. Sold for 120,000 gns in December 2017, she starts off for a new trainer here.

Her career Bath form reads (4,1,2,1), with one of those victories coming as recently as Good Friday, beating Arrogant by 1L (Quench Dolly third). This is a much stronger contest, but she's earned her place in the line up. Best with cut.

Lightly raced after making just seven career starts, but her sole success so far came in a novice stakes contest at Sandown in June 2017 (good to soft). Placed in Listed class at Chantilly in October (very soft), but others far stronger on paper.

Oasis Dream filly who cost 140,000 gns as a yearling, winning two of her first three career starts at Ascot and Nottingham. Found wanting in stronger races later in the season (Listed/Group 3), but certain to appreciate the drying ground conditions.

Successful in a Nursery Handicap from a mark of 89 at Goodwood in September (6f soft) but has appeared vulnerable in stronger races since. That said; only beaten around 4L when finishing fifth to Alwasmiya (6f Listed) at Newmarket latest.

In rude health on the AW during the winter winning five on the bounce between November 2017 and March 2018, seeing her official rating climb by over 40lb. The winning run ended (not disgraced) on Good Friday, and she's now switched back to turf.

Recorded a second straight success when taking an October Naas Nursery (5f yielding) by 2L for previous trainer Johnny Murtagh. Sold for 100,000 gns at Newmarket in November, and now kicks off her three-year-old campaign for Dean Ivory.

Forecasts

Mabs Cross (4/1), Mrs Danvers (5/1), Fashion Queen (11/2), Quench Dolly (6/1), Rock On Baileys (8/1), Marie Of Lyon (10/1), Yolo Star (12/1), Mrs Gallagher (14/1), Under The Covers (16/1), Neola (20/1), Justice Lady (20/1), Razzmatazz (22/1), Blitz (50/1), Belledesert (66/1), Looks A Million (66/1)

Verdict

The racecourse executive will no doubt be thrilled by the sizeable turnout and there's no shortage of class on show with the returning Mrs Danvers, who enjoyed an exemplary juvenile campaign and the AW money spinner Rock On Baileys in the line up. However, other fillies hold more alluring claims at this level with the likes of Mabs Cross and Yolo Star both very much respected. Fashion Queen is probably just about the form pick on her Chantilly Group 3 third in September 2017, but MARIE OF LYON ended her campaign firmly on the up, and very strong over 6f can potentially record her biggest career success to date.
  1. Marie Of Lyon
  2. Fashion Queen
  3. Yolo Star
