Remains a maiden after eight attempts, but was beaten just ½L by Leoro at Wolverhampton last month (1m6f). Has tried this trip over hurdles in the past, but not on the Flat. Up 2lb in first time cheek-pieces.

Back from a five month break, and switched to synthetics for just the second time when making his stable debut at Chelmsford latest (1m6f). Comfortably held in finishing 8+L third to Volturnus, but that left something to work upon for the future.

Left previous trainer Ian Williams for £8,000 in November 2017, and finished a close up fifth on stable debut over C&D last month in a race won by Thankyou Very Much. Likely sharper off the same mark tonight.

Runner up on his last two synthetics starts (2m), including at Dundalk last week. Continues to climb the weights without quite managing to force his head to the front, but the application of cheek-pieces is helpful. Fairly solid overall.

Yet to win over further than 1m2f or away from turf. Not in great form when last in competitive action (February), and surely not the solution here.

Not looked anything special so far (Flat or hurdles), and has failed to progress since switched to handicap company. First try over 2m.

A mare who has shown gradual improvement at a lowly level and looks capable of winning a small race at this track. Finished third over C&D last month (Hediddodinthe second), so that makes her competitive at least.

Took her synthetics record to 0 from 23 when finishing 10L third to Rock'n Gold at Wolverhampton last month (1m6f), and connections appear to be clutching at straws seeking that elusive AW success over this longer trip.

Made all and held on gamely when springing a 25/1 surprise at Redcar in August 2016 (1m6f good to soft), but fairly dismal in five AW starts since, and on that basis couldn't be considered.

Never involved on handicap debut at Hamilton in September 2017 (1m4f), and whilst she's related to various winners including the stayer Braes of Lochalsh she couldn't be fancied in the slightest on AW debut over a new trip.

Had his fair share of trainers already, and most have struggled to unearth any signs of ability. Now 0 from 13, with his latest trainer electing to up him 1m in trip in an attempt to provide a glimmer of light.

Scarcely beaten a single rival in three starts so far and absent from the track since June 2017. Up 6f on handicap/stable debut, but no realistic chance whatsoever based upon what we've witnessed so far.

Forecasts

Hediddodinthe (7/4), Dance Rock (3/1), St Andrews (9/1), Jassas (10/1), Pantomime (12/1), Smooth Operator (12/1), Leodis (12/1), Urban Spirit (25/1), Cecilator (33/1), Simply Clever (50/1), Saint Cuthberts (50/1), Lord Franklin (66/1), Anna's Legacy (80/1), Kazoey (100/1)

Verdict

A moderate looking opener with no shortage of what you could term as National Hunt trainers with representatives. Jassas goes on the Flat for the first time since his days in France, whilst Dance Rock is upped in trip in first time cheek-pieces after a fair effort at Wolverhampton (1m6f) latest. However, we'll stick with Newcastle form, and the C&D contest here on March 13th provides the best clues. Hediddodinthe (second) just about came out on top of PANTOMIME (third) and St Andrews (fifth) and he has run well at Dundalk since, but the Rebecca Menzies trained mare is improving slowly and could represent a shade more value in a very winnable contest.
