Stepped up on his second run to win over C&D having learnt a lot from his debut run. Disappointed in very different conditions on his turf debut (up in grade) at York in October and now back on the AW over 7f with a penalty to carry after a break.

Showed enough on his debut (7f, soft) but still looked as though he needed the experience and whilst he improved on his second start the mile appeared to test him. Makes his return and AW debut now off a break but more needed.

Made his debut in a weak Bath maiden over 5f on firm ground and although he made some appeal on pedigree it was an uninspiring start to his career (finished last). May have been amiss there but much more needed to get involved here.

Interesting debutante from a top-class stable who is the first foal winner at up to 7f including on the AW. Yard are in good form at the moment and he should be noted in the market; wouldn't be a surprise to see prominent display on debut.

Price increased from yearling to two-year-old and this Jeremy gelding is a brother to Causey Arch (winner at 1m1f). Doesn't appeal that much on pedigree and may well need this experience.

Twice seen on turf as a juvenile in novice events on very different ground each time although both displays were rather moribund and lacked much promise. Has now been gelded and looks set for handicaps once he has a mark.

Brother to juvenile 7f winner Mootaharer and a half-brother to several winners including the top-class Muhaarar so has the pedigree to go well here. Yard in good form of late with four winners from just a few runners and he should go well here.

Despite what looks a useful pedigree she has shown very little so far in three runs all as a juvenile. Now returns for her second try on the AW and at this trip but looks to face a tough task.

Seen just twice last year at the backend of the campaign and although he showed ability first time out he was still very green. Went backwards from his debut and more needed now on his return after a break.

Price increased to 230,000 guineas as a juvenile and has quite an appealing pedigree but her form last year was only modest in reality. May well show more with a few more months under her belt but others have shown better form.

Hooded for her debut when a 50/1 chance and very much the stable second string and needed the experience when only beating two home over C&D on debut. Likely that she'll need another run or two to gain more experience.

Forecasts

Mr Marrakech (2/1), Barton Mills (9/4), Airmax (4/1), La Maquina (4/1), Wufud (9/2), Rux Ruxx (20/1), Singing Sheriff (20/1), Salsa Verde (33/1), Wicked Sea (50/1), Hugs And Pats (50/1), One Flew Over (50/1), Racehorse (66/1), Asheena (100/1)

Verdict

This doesn’t look as strong as the first division and lacks as much depth with the promising La Maquina looking to have to overcome an awkward wide draw if he’s to build on his two good C&D runs previously. Penalised C&D winner Barton Mills may well appreciate a return to the AW as he starts his three-year-old career but the newcomer WUFUD is selected to make a winning debut. The Charles Hills stable have made a good start to the season and this one has an appealing pedigree that is good enough to see him win first time up. Mr Marrakech is another debutante who should be watched in the market along with Singing Sheriff who is also expected to go well first time up.
