Handles heavy ground and didn't run badly last time having previously been outclassed in the Eider Chase. Has fallen to a feasible mark so warrants respect for in-form yard.
Pulled up in two of his last three outings but ran well in between when narrowly beaten at Newcastle. Handles conditions and may be sparked into a revival courtesy of the first-time visor.
Won well at Ayr 2m4f last time in novice chase and although has gone close over similar trip to today there is a suspicion that this distance is the limit of his stamina. Champion jockey on board though so shouldn't be far away.
Won this race last year off 5lb lower mark but hasn't been in same form in two starts this campaign and needs to really turn things around to have a chance of following up.
Hasn't won for two years but has looked on the way back with two fair efforts of late having been cut some slack by the handicapper. Copes with this ground and should again be there or thereabouts.
Won three times last season for Anthony Honeyball but hasn't been in same form for current yard this term. so is hard to enthuse over on this occasion.
Been in good form this term wining twice at Ayr of late before appeared to have his measure taken by handicapper when distant fourth at Carlisle last time. A revival not completely ruled out though.
Veteran who has been knocking on the door of late finishing runner-up in each of his last three starts. Clearly in good heart at present and expected again to be in the mix although does appear one paced in a finish.
Consitent this campaign winning at Hexham and running with credit in subsequent starts. Seem to have a touch of the slows so heavy ground won't do any harm. Has place propsects.
Forecasts
Streets Of Promise (11/4), Lowanbehold (5/1), Smuggler's Stash (5/1), Looksnowtlikebrian (6/1), Buffalo Ballet (13/2), Newtown Lad (8/1), Silver Tassie (10/1), Scotswell (25/1), Royal Salute (40/1)
This looks quite an open affair but STREETS OF PROMISE may gain just reward for some solid recent efforts and finally get his head back in front. Silver Tassie won't be far away if on his game, and if he stays Looksnowtlikebrian has claims with the champion jockey on board. Newtown Lad cannot be dismissed either, but last year's winner Scotswell needs to raise his game to defend his title.
- Streets Of Promise
- Newtown Lad
