Only win in eight outings came in June, 2016, and three efforts at Meydan at the start of last year were disappointing. Has been freshened up and may yet be capable of better following his break off a reduced mark.
Grand old campaigner who has eight career victories to his name but is hard to win with these days. That said, he has been running with credit at this track of late and cannot be dismissed.
Has shaped well since switched to the AW this year, winning at Kempton and finishing fourth over 1m at this track last time. Should be competitive off his current mark with well being proven.
Landed a decent handicap at Ascot last summer, but went off the boil afterwards so it was encouraging to see him run well following a break at Kempton in February. Step up in trip may suit so he looks a player off 1lb lower.
Registered his second success in seven AW starts when winning convincingly over C&D last time. Up 8lb, but has to enter calculations.
Not beaten far behind the prolific Spare Parts at Kempton on last two starts and is fully effective over this C&D. Seems to be in good heart and well worth considering off a feasible rating.
Registered his eighth AW win in 41 starts when successful at Southwell last time. Had been struggling off lower marks than this beforehand and patchy recent record suggests he is unlikely to follow up.
No wins, but four seconds in 6 AW starts for Kevin Ryan. Starts out for a new trainer and current mark suggests he can be competitive.
Forecasts
Silent Attack (13/8), Sea Fox (4/1), In The Red (5/1), Lightning Charlie (6/1), Shyron (12/1), Alfred Hutchinson (14/1), Pearl Spectre (16/1), Nautical Haven (25/1)
It is too soon to write off top-weight Silent Attack, but he has a long absence to overcome and may be best watched on this occasion, Alfred Hutchinson, Sea Fox and Lightning Charlie have claims on recent efforts, but the two to focus on may be In The Red and SHYRON, with the latter getting a narrow vote after a couple of good efforts at Kempton. Pearl Spectre and Nautical Haven cannot be dismissed in an open contest.
- Shyron
- In The Red
- Lightning Charlie
