Justified favouritism in a C&D claimer in February and was beaten only a neck back in handicap company at this venue last time. Up 1lb and may find one or two of these rivals more leniently handicapped..
Versatile and consistent AW performer who won on the Southwell Fibresand two starts ago, but was well held on his return to that surface off 4lb higher. Effective at this venue, but looks high enough in the weights.
Won a Windsor handicap last year when trained by William Haggas and did not seem to take to hurdling on only start over timber for current trainer. Sole outing on the AW saw him win a maiden at Newcastle as a juvenile.
Back to winning ways in a C&D handicap under this jockey last month, but only prevailed by a neck and 6b rise looks slightly harsh. Respected, however.
Running without distinction in hurdles before returning to the Flat at Kempton last time and finishing eighth of 11. Down 2lb, but needs to improve if he is to take a hand in the finish.
Enjoying a fruitful 2018 with five AW wins, four of them at Southwell. Has a C&D win on his CV, however, so has to enter calculations in his current rich vein of form despite his career-high mark.
Beaten a neck by Cape Blanco on latest start over C&D and is 2lb better off. That gives him every chance so he has to go on the short list.
Trained by Richard Hughes when winning for the only time at Salisbury in June, 2016. Returning from a long break when prominent for a long way on his hurdling debut at Huntingdon and first start for this trainer. Positive jockey booking.
Been around for quite a long time, but has five career wins to his name and ran well to be third of 10 at Newcastle last time. Up 1lb and, as a C&D winner, has to be respected.
Forecasts
Cape Banjo (7/4), Dream Magic (5/1), Tidal Watch (6/1), Crushed (9/1), Luv U Whatever (10/1), Broadway Dreams (12/1), Blenheim Warrior (12/1), Star Ascending (14/1), Hussar Ballad (20/1)
Most of these are quite exposed, but Cape Banjo and Tidal Watch, who were first and second over C&D last month, have room for improvement and are likely to get involved. The interesting one, though, is CRUSHED, who won his only AW start as a juvenile and reverts to the Flat after a poor effort over hurdles. Blenheim Warrior's jockey booking catches the eye and he might outrun his likely long odds, while others to consider are Hussar Ballad and the prolific Star Ascending.
- Crushed
- Star Ascending
- Cape Banjo
