Has shown he can perform in top quality handicaps, including when taking the 2016 Rockingham, but his form tailed off last year when he drew a blank and no great shakes on reappearance at Naas (6f, soft to heavy).
Changed hands for £8,000 in September but disappointed at Southwell (5f, AW) on first start for new yard. Trainer does well with his sprinting recruits and the second run on the back of a wind operation is developing into an interesting angle.
6f heavy-ground Pontefract winner on penultimate start for former yard in September from a mark of 85. Running fair races on the AW at Dundalk since joining this trainer and potentially on a good mark here on ground that he will go on.
Winner over this sort of trip on debut in France in 2016 but unable to register since arriving in Ireland, with best efforts coming over 7f so far. Does handle a testing surface.
C&D winner on good ground in 2016, though form last year on turf was poor. Did score twice on the AW at Dundalk in January but questions to answer over 5f on a testing surface like this.
Took a while to get going last term as a three-year-old but best efforts eventually came on softer surfaces, culminating in a dead-heat for 5f soft to heavy Tipperary maiden in September. That certainly gives him claims if wound up for return.
Beaten close to 15L in soft-ground Leopardstown nursery when last spotted, has previously gone well this C&D and worth a market check on return from 161 days off.
Zebedee gelding, worst of his efforts last year came on soft ground at Naas over 6f in October, so this surface is a worry. Bit too free on recent return at Dundalk (5f, AW) but sharper this time.
Filly made decent late progress to land 5f soft-ground Naas handicap in November off a mark of 62 when last spotted. Had previously faded rapidly from the front end over this C&D.
Learning all the time in six turf starts last year and opened account over 5f on AW at Dundalk in October. Weighted to be in the mix on return to action.
Forecasts
Dandyman Port (9/2), Aspen Belle (5/1), Sors (11/2), Court Queen (11/2), Bluesbreaker (6/1), Captain Dion (13/2), Art Of Unity (7/1), Rantan (10/1), My Silver Nails (16/1), Zeb City (16/1)
CAPTAIN DION is potentially on a useful mark for this having won off 85 on testing ground at Pontefract in September for his previous connections over 6f. He's been acquitting himself well on the AW since arriving in Ireland and is of interest now. Aspen Belle was in good tune at Naas in November when last spotted and may have more to offer this term while Art Of Unity has a chance these weights. Court Queen handles this sort of ground and is deemed capable of further progress this term.
- Captain Dion
- Aspen Belle
- Court Queen
