Won a York novice event in October, but struggled on his handicap debut at Doncaster later that month. Probably better than that but, as the only winner in this, faces no easy task conceding weight all round.

Well beaten in novice/maiden events at Windsor and Newbury. Qualifies for a handicap mark after this run and that is his most likely route.

All five runs on the AW at Dundalk and has been runner-up in the last three, displaying a fair level of form. Looks likely to play a prominent role once again.

Definite signs of ability on both starts over 6f as a juvenile. Step up to 7f should suit, but may just need this reappearance run on his first start on the AW.

Showed a degree of talent on both starts and returns to action after being gelded. Represents a leading stable and it will be interesting to see if the market speaks in his favour.

Gelding by Delegator who was purchased for £4,000 at the yearling sales in October, 2016. Never-nearer 6th of 10 on debut at Wolverhampton last month and may need more time.

Son of Brazilian sire Leroidesanimaux who cost 70,000 gns as a yearling and is a half-brother to a couple of winners from 7f to 1m1f. Stable also runs Lord Vetinari so it will be interesting to see how this one compares with him in the betting.
Beaten quite a long way in novice contests at Newmarket and this venue at the back end of last year. Should do better once handicapping.

Azamour filly who is a half-sister to 6f-7f winner Roman Holiday and whose dam won over 1m2f, including a French Listed contest. Never a factor on debut at Newmarket in November and is best watched.

Well beaten on both starts as a juvenile when trained by Charlie Hills. Debut for this stable and will probably be seen to better effect in handicaps for which she is eligible after this race.

Forecasts

Mosalim (13/8), Irish Minister (13/8), Lord Vetinari (4/1), Motajaasid (5/1), Mont Kinabalu (10/1), Sovrano (20/1), Desert Trip (33/1), Love To Breeze (33/1), Miss Paris (33/1), Pablow (50/1), Carolyn's Voice (50/1)

Verdict

Mont KInabalu will do well to concede weight all round, but should feature, while Lord Vetinari and Mosalim are potential improvers this season. Debutants Sovrano and Motajaasid appeal on breeding and are worth a check in the betting, but this looks best left to IRISH MINISTER, who boasts a good level of AW form and seems sure to be thereabouts.
  1. Irish Minister
  2. Lord Vetinari
  3. Mont Kinabalu
