Having made seven previous starts he was finally given a chance in handicaps over C&D and although he wasn't disgraced he did look exposed against some lightly-raced sorts. Kept on the same mark, he may face the same problems as last time here.

Kept a frustrating run of placed efforts going last time when finding another one too good in a first-time hood on the Tapeta over a longer trip. Nothing wrong with his attitude but he does need a strong gallop at this trip. Mark looks fair.

Suited by the change in surface (Fibresand) and/or the longer trip (a mile), he showed progress to score on his penultimate start. Ran at least as well over C&D last time in defeat and he looks a better model this year; can continue to progress.

Like most three-year-old handicaps this is difficult to unravel with most of these looking to have improvement in them. POET’S PRINCE appears to have improved this year, showing a versatility with regard to the surfaces, he’s raced on and displaying a good attitude to boot; he looks capable of winning off this mark. Battle Lines looks to have just been unfortunate not to break his maiden yet but he might have to settle for another place here. Blackheath also looks one who can make progress after his recent return and he should edge out Ambient for the minor berth.
