Yard don't have a good record in this sphere but this one wasn't disgraced first time out when only beaten 7L in a similar event at Fontwell over 1m5f on heavy ground in February (2L in arrears of Scorpion Haze). Open to improvement.

Showed clear signs of ability when finishing a runner-up in a 3m Irish point-to-point on soft ground in November. Looks a potentially handy recruit at £75,000 for a yard which has enjoyed some limited success in this sphere. Watch the market.
Was quietly fancied for his debut at Taunton a year ago when with Nigel Hawke but something went amiss and was pulled up. Wasn't seen out again until reappearing for this yard at Warwick in January where he toiled badly.

Has shaped encouragingly in three similar events so far, beaten less than 5L on each occasion. For all that, he was sent off a well-backed favourite at Fontwell (heavy) last time so his effort was a shade disappointing. Should still be in the mix.
Quietly-fancied for his debut in a bumper on the AW at Newcastle last month and travelled smoothly for a long way, eventually finishing a 2L second behind Bournville. Fully respected here on that evidence.
Showed flashes of promise in a NH Flat event over 1m3f (soft) in his native France in the autumn. Positive vibes would be interesting considering yard does occasionally have winners in this sphere, though not this season so far.

Forecasts

Akarita Lights (13/8), Scorpion Haze (3/1), Eclair De Guye (4/1), Kilbrew Boy (7/1), Iwilldoit (10/1), Rgb The Architect (12/1)

Verdict

Akarita Lights shaped nicely when finishing a 3L runner-up behind previous scorer Bournville (pair clear) in an AW bumper at Newcastle last month but he is Flat-bred and encounters very different conditions now. Preference is for SCORPION HAZE who hasn't been far away in three similar events, including behind subsequent Festival Bumper participant Jaytrack Parkhomes on heavy ground at Fontwell last time. Iwilldoit was only 2L in arrears that day so is also respected, as is point-to-point recruit Kilbrew Boy, though this may represent an insufficient test.
  1. Scorpion Haze
  2. Akarita Lights
  3. Kilbrew Boy
