At least he showed more than he has over hurdles of late returned to the AW (Tapeta) last time over 2m. His one run here showed that he could act on this surface but he's no t won in any sphere since early 2016.

Impressive winner of his last two starts on Fibresand cruising through both races and looming up going easily in the closing stages. Looks a natural on Fibresand and should be able to cope with this longer trip off 5lb higher; leading contender.

No experience on Fibresand but his sire and yard are enough proof that he'll act on the surface. Showed his worth over this trip already on the AW off a 7lb lower mark but has run well since (not seen to best effect last time); should be competitive.

A four-time winner here (once over C&D) he's been in resurgent form over the winter winning twice here off lower marks. Ran with credit over a sharper trip last time (1m3f) and will benefit from a return to this sort of test.

Veteran who goes well on this surface and was in search of a hat-trick last time out on Fibresand but disappointed. It may well be the effects of the blinkers were wearing off as his quirky attitude from the past resurfaced; may be one to be wary of.

His Fibresand form from the past is better than anything that he's produced of late with his last three looking particularly laboured and lazy. Dropped a further 3lb from his last effort but more enthusiasm and zip would be needed to support him.

Ended a long losing run last time over 1m6f here to record her 4th Fibresand win and continue her fine form here for her new yard. She's run well off higher marks in the past so a repeat can't be ruled out given how well she goes here.

Forecasts

Azam (11/4), The Resdev Way (7/2), Katie Gale (4/1), Serenity Now (9/2), Cousin Khee (7/1), Silver Quay (10/1), Caged Lightning (14/1), Eurato (25/1)

Verdict

Hardly any shortage of protagonists that have run well on Fibresand particularly over staying trips but THE RESDEV WAY looks the progressive one in the field having won impressively here on his last two visits. Cousin Khee would have chances on his previous form here but his old quirks looked to coming back to haunt him last time and bigger dangers may emerge from the likes of Katie Gale and Serenity Now. Azam is the only member of the field who hasn’t been tested on Fibresand before but given his pedigree he should act on the surface and is an interesting newcomer to Southwell.
