Not beaten all that far on his stable debut over 6f in early February when finishing 1½L fourth to Heaven's Guest (ex Dean Ivory). Should relish this step up to 7f, with all seven career successes coming over this trip.

A tough old boot (7 from 36 on the AW), but never stronger than when racing in Essex at Chelmsford. Finished in the frame at Wolverhampton latest (ran on strongly), and has one piece of reasonable Newcastle form, but generally better elsewhere.

C&D winner (October 2016) and regularly in the frame at this track since, although he didn't enjoy the best of fortunes in this contest in 2017 (seventh). Off since October, so might just need the race.

On the premises over C&D on his penultimate start last month, beaten just over 1½L Athollblair Boy. Not so strong back on turf at Doncaster last weekend and difficult to win with on the whole.

Took this contest in 2017 by a neck from Inaam (Amood seventh), but hasn't managed to get his head back in front in 12 subsequent starts on turf. Back on the AW for the first time since and races off the same mark.

Showed a fair level of ability for previous trainer Simon Crisford (6f Newmarket winner in May 2015) and initially continued that form once switched to this trainer for 6,000 gns. Off since June 2017, so her well-being/fitness is taken on trust.

Not overly exposed after making just six career starts. Was a debut Redcar scorer over this trip in April 2017, but ended the year unsuccessfully upped in trip. A stronger showing can be expected back over 7f on AW debut.

Plausible that he will have needed his recent comeback run after a snowy spell in Scotland and is only 5lb higher than when scoring over C&D in November; beat Tellovoi by 1L. Career best effort needed, but merits consideration.

Beat the now 90-rated Ball Girl when taking a 7f Gowran Park maiden by ½L for W.McCreery in July 2017. Has limited experience in handicaps and has moved on since racing at the Curragh in August. AW/stable debut.

Forecasts

Tadaawol (9/2), Insurplus (9/2), Welliesinthewater (5/1), Sir Reginald Brown (5/1), Chaplin Bay (7/1), Outside Inside (7/1), Firmdecisions (9/1), Amood (20/1), Palenville (33/1)

Verdict

Not a race in which to necessarily form a strong view, with a number of the runners meriting consideration and the intriguing three-year-old filly Outside Inside receiving weight from all of her rivals on debut for Mark Johnston (also her AW debut). Chaplin Bay took this contest in 2017 off an identical mark and races on the AW for the first time since, so with his trainer Ruth Carr amongst the winners already this week his claims are fairly obvious. However, the vote goes the now Nigel Tinkler trained FIRMDECISIONS. He's thereabouts his last winning mark (November 2016), and looks certain to appreciate the return to a wholly more suitable 7f trip.
  1. Firmdecisions
  2. Chaplin Bay
  3. Outside Inside
