Horse A-Z
Kapgarde gelding out of a Epervier Bleu mare related to national hunt winners Garde La Victoire, As De Mee and Grade 1 chase winner in France, Milford Thomas. Improved from debut to place here last time out and likely to run well again.
Beaten 100L on debut at Lopeardstown last time, and will obviously need to improve on that, but has the connections and pedigree to do so.

Horse silk
7/1
Improved for a poor debut effort to place at Punchestown last time in a maiden hurdle. Back down in trip switching to a bumper, but should run well.
Not beaten far at Naas last time, also in a bumper but over further. Major player if transferring that form to this shorter trip.
5
Horse silk
7/2
Disappointing on rules debut when beaten 7L despite a price of 1/2fav. Clearly better was expected and he may be able to show it here.
Kaieteur horse (entire) out of a Flemensfirth mare. Not much to go on in terms of pedigree but dam was a half-sister to a winner of a hunter chase.
7
Horse silk
33/1
Well beaten in two races over hurdles and likely to need more time. Wears first-time cheekpieces.
Mahler gelding out of Tariana who cost €80,000 as a three-year-old. Related to a winner over jumps and worth a check in the market on debut.
Oscar mare out of a dual-purpose mare who won on the Flat but also over further than this under jumps rules.

Forecasts

Mount Pelier (9/4), Rio Vivas (7/2), Cuneo (5/1), Where Eagles Dare (5/1), Monition (7/1), Madison To Monroe (8/1), Russian Soldier (25/1), Sizing Joshua (33/1), Ballycastle Girl (50/1)

Verdict

Cuneo produced a promising effort last time out and he's likely to improve again but preference is for RIO VIVAS. Better was clearly expected at Thurles last time when he was sent off at 1/2 but finished only third. Improvement will almost certainly come about sooner or later, especially given his trainer, and this is hardly the stronger bumper. Madison To Monroe is another who should be able to come from a slightly disappointing rules debut.
  1. Rio Vivas
  2. Cuneo
  3. Madison To Monroe
