Unbeaten in two starts over hurdles for this stable but will get entirely different conditions to those two victories. Obvious claims if he handles the ground for a yard that usually have there runners ready to go first up.
Point-to-point winner who won impressively on debut for this yard. Very disappointing in a Listed Hurdle at Naas last month but capable of running well if he jumps better here.

Some good form in easier races than this but would've been beaten by Roaring Bull if that rival hadn't come down late in the day at Thurles last time out.

Not far away in a Grade 2 last time out having gotten off the mark at Naas in good style in February. Progressive over hurdles and holds major claims in conditions which should suit.

A winner over hurdles at the third time of asking at Down Royal last time but had struggled prior to that and liable to being outclassed in this.

Off the mark over hurdles at the first attempt at Clonmel in December before slightly disappointing at the same venue last month. Winner has gone on to run at Grade 1 level (though was pulled-up) and this may be easier.

Wasn't going to win when falling in a Grade 3 won by subsequent Cheltenham Festival scorer Blow By Blow at Thurles last month but had run well. Down in trip here but it shouldn't be an issue and needs considering.
Won at Auteuil in October on his final French start and has now joined this new yard in Ireland. Owner often does well in French recruits and a market check is needed.

Forecasts

Draconien (10/3), Roaring Bull (9/2), Cartwright (5/1), Nessun Dorma (11/2), Articulum (7/1), Celtic Rising (8/1), Rock De Baune (8/1), Another Barney (16/1)

Verdict

Rock De Baune is certainly one to watch in the betting given how JP Macmanus often does with his French recruits, but preference is for ROARING BULL. He was in the process of running a big race (though held) when falling at the last at Thurles last time out, and given the winner has franked the form in a very competitive Cheltenham Festival race since he may well be able to return to winning ways here. Cartwright wasn't far away in Grade 2 company last time out and completes the tricast.
  1. Roaring Bull
  2. Rock De Baune
  3. Cartwright
